Maybe you don’t need your poncho after all?

Disneyland is filled with so many classic and iconic rides. From “it’s a small world” Peter Pan’s Light, Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride, Matterhorn Bobsleds, or Roger Rabit’s Cartoon Spin, Disneyland offers Guests some true quality themed Disney entertainment. Possibly one of the most iconic attractions ever created also resides at Disneyland as well as Walt Disney World, and this ride is sure to soak you, or is it?

Recently, Guests at Disneyland noticed Splash Mountain operating normally except for one thing: the water was missing! In a TikTok posted by Mommy Mouse Clubhouse (@mommymouseclubhouse), Guests can be seen taking the nearly 50-foot drop without any water beneath them. See the bizarre-looking video below:

If there’s no splash, is this ride just called Mountain 🤔 #splashmountainchallenge #disneylandcali #disneylandfail #disneylandride

Although this looks quite strange, it was most likely due to a technical or timing error and is completely safe for Guests onboard.

Splash Mountain is a highly-talked-about attraction due to the recent controversy surrounding the ride. Announced back in 2020, Disney officially revealed its plan to retheme Splash Mountain at both Disneyland and Walt Disney World to the theme and story of the animated Disney film, The Princess and the Frog (2009). Although this decision wasn’t popular with some Guests, many are looking forward to experiencing Splash Mountain in a brand-new and more inclusive way. No dates have been announced for the project yet; more on that here.

A Hare-Raising Adventure

Hop inside a hollow log and float through a colorful bayou as you follow happy-go-lucky Br’er Rabbit to his “laughing place.” But be warned: Br’er Bear and Br’er Fox are in hot pursuit of this wayward hare.

Glide past over 100 talking, singing, storytelling Audio-Animatronics critters who inhabit Splash Mountain and offer up their own slice of down-home culture. Sing along to classic Disney ditties, including “Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah.”

Then, brace yourself for the big finale—this musical cruise ends in a thrilling 5-story splashdown!

You Will Get Wet!

This attraction includes 950,000 gallons of water, 3 dips and a 5-story drop. Where you’re seated will determine how wet you’ll get. Riders in the back may experience a sudden splash or spray; those who opt for the front can expect to get soaked.

A Splash of History

Many of the critters in the cast originally made their Disneyland park debut at the classic show America Sings, where they performed patriotic melodies in Tomorrowland from 1974 to 1988.
