Every Star Wars fan is waiting for the release of Obi-Wan Kenobi, a Star Wars series coming to Disney+ that’s set to continue the story of Kenobi, Darth Vader, and more. According to Lucasfilm’s Kathleen Kennedy, lead actors Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen had an “emotional” reunion on set, putting back on those Jedi robes 16 years later.
Unlike any other Star Wars story, the Obi-Wan Kenobi streaming series coming to Disney+ sometime in 2022 is quite possibly the most anticipated Star Wars saga project since The Mandalorian.
Featuring the return of Ewan McGregor’s Obi-Wan Kenobi, the limited series is reuniting actor Hayden Christensen with Star Wars. Upon returning to set, the two Jedi had quite the reunion:
Kathleen Kennedy says Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen had an emotional reunion on the #ObiWan set. “They hadn’t seen one another in a long time. I was surprised at just how incredibly emotional it was for each of them,” she said.

In an exclusive interview with Empire Magazine, Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy shared secrets of upcoming Star Wars projects, including Obi-Wan Kenobi.
Though fans have not yet received an official release date, they can be assured that the Kenobi series will ignite their prequel series love like never before. Kennedy continue:
I was surprised at just how incredibly emotional it was for each of them to find themselves back in these roles, and just realising how important Star Wars was to each of them. It was the beginning of their careers.”
The last fans saw of Christensen and McGregor’s iconic characters were in Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith (2005).
The brotherhood of Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi and Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker fell through, as Skywalker gave in to the dark side of the Force after Emporer Palpatine (Ian McDiarmid) convinced Anakin to follow him as Darth Vader.
While Lucasfilm and The Walt Disney Company have yet to set an official release date for Obi-Wan Kenobi, the series is reportedly debuting on Disney+ in the first half of 2022!
More about Obi-Wan Kenobi
Though the series is not featuring iconic characters like Princess Leia Organa (Carrie Fisher), Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill), Han Solo (Harrison Ford), Boba Fett (Jeremy Bulloch/Temura Morrison), Chewbacca (Peter Mayhew), and Jabba the Hutt from the Star Wars galaxy, the legacy of George Lucas lives on as fans get a deeper look into what happened after the events of Order 66 and the rise of the Empire.
This Skywalker saga epic is a six-episode, limited series, a bridge between the prequels and the original trilogy.
Seeing the return of Hayden Christensen to Hollywood as Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader will be like nothing else, as many Star Wars fans have been waiting for this day for nearly two decades.
The story begins 10 years after the dramatic events of ‘Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith’ where Kenobi faced his greatest defeat: the downfall and corruption of his best friend and Jedi apprentice, Anakin Skywalker, turned evil Sith Lord Darth Vader.
Perhaps fans will catch another glimpse of clone troopers during flashback sequences in the series. Or perchance hear whispers of the Millenium Falcon as time progresses in the Star Wars universe.
Every Star Wars fan is thrilled to see McGregor and Christensen reunite as their iconic Star Wars characters once again and eagerly await more news surrounding the series.
