One image shows that Imagineers are beginning to place TRON ride vehicles on the Tomorrowland roller coaster’s track in order to verify rider clearance and, presumably, test other safety measures:

A Tron car with extensions for verifying rider clearance. This mock up has been here several days. The ride will have a ground level launch into an outdoor swoop under a canopy. The train will ascend here to enter the show or gravity building.

Then, in perhaps the closest view we’ve seen of TRON Lightcycle Run yet, Bioreconstruct shared a photo of the clamps that are being used to hold the ride vehicles in position for Walt Disney Imagineers and construction team members to do their jobs:

An interesting look at yellow track clamps used to hold a Tron car in place for several days. Car (really, a carriage) has extensions to verify rider clearance.

Bioreconstruct also shared a photo of the outdoor portion of TRON, where the ride’s most stunning feature — its freestyle wave canopy — will be visible:

At this time, Disney World has not announced when Magic Kingdom Park’s latest ride will open, though it seems that it will not be done for the start of the 50th anniversary celebration on October 1, 2021.

Walt Disney World Resort’s version of TRON Lightcycle Run is based on the TRON Lightcycle Power Run roller coaster at Shanghai Disneyland. The official description of that ride reads:

Experience high-speed thrills and chills as the Grid comes alive in a heart-pounding race for survival. Created as a friendly way for “Programs” and “Users” to interact, the Power Run pits team against team in the quintessential quest to capture 8 Energy Gates and triumph over opponents.

Prepare for digitization after entering the portal—this is your access into the energy, lights and excitement of TRON’s high-tech universe. As you leave the real world behind, you’ll proceed to the games as a member of Team Blue, ready to compete against some of the Grid’s most menacing Programs.
