Disney CEO Bob Chapek Meeting With President Biden Over Vaccine Mandate

Current Walt Disney Company CEO Bob Chapek has been invited to attend a White House meeting with United States President Joe Biden to discuss vaccine mandates in the workplace.

Chapek will join other business leaders representing companies like Walgreen’s and tech giant Microsoft. Per The Hollywood Reporter:

Chapek will be part of a panel of business leaders set to discuss the White House’s vaccine mandate, which instructs OSHA (the Occupational Health and Safety Administration) to require companies with at least 100 employees to have their workers either receive a vaccination against COVID-19 or be tested for the virus regularly.

THR also shared details about what exactly will be discussed during the upcoming meeting, which is set for today, Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at 1:30 p.m. EST:

“The President will discuss their leadership on putting into place strong COVID-19 requirements that help keep a safe workplace,” according to a White House official. “This event will also serve as a rallying cry for more businesses across the country to step up and institute similar measures.”

Disney is currently requiring vaccinations for all Cast Members at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida and Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California. There is also a vaccine requirement in place for all salaried and hourly Walt Disney Company employees who work outside of theme park properties.

At this time, it is unknown if today’s meeting will involve any discussion of vaccine mandates for Guests visiting Disney Parks. Currently, Guests at Disney’s U.S. Parks — EPCOT, Magic Kingdom, Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Disneyland Park, and Disney California Adventure — do not have to provide proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test result.
