The new after-hours event at Magic Kingdom kicked off last night, August 10, and attendees are not holding back their thoughts regarding Disney After Hours Boo Bash.
Disney After Hours Boo Bash is replacing Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party for this Halloween season due to the ongoing pandemic. Though Magic Kingdom is not hosting Mickey’s Boo-to-You Parade or Disney’s Not-So-Spooky Halloween Fireworks, attendees were still able to experience party music, decorations, character cavalcades, and more.

One of the major things that stood out regarding Disney After Hours Boo Bash was the pricing. Boo Bash will run for 23 select nights, which started last night (August 10) and will continue through October 31. Tickets start at $129 – $139, plus tax for August/September nights and $159 – $169, plus tax for October nights, and $199, plus tax for Halloween.
Though these prices seem much higher than Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, we do want to point out that Boo Bash is a Disney After Hours event while Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is considered a Halloween party.

For example, when comparing Disney After Hours Boo Bash prices to another After Hours event, let’s say Disney Villains After Hours, the two are very similar. In 2019, Disney Villains After Hours averaged $145 per ticket with Boo Bash averaging slightly less for nights in August and September and slightly more in October. Therefore, these prices seem in line with other After Hours events Disney World has hosted in the past.
With all of this being said, we were curious how attendees felt about the offerings at the first night of Boo Bash considering the pricing of tickets.

For starters, Shannon (@brbgoingtodisney) shared a photo to their Instagram, explaining one of the perks of Boo Bash, writing:
Just me and my friends…. Goofy and snacks ???
•
One fun thing about the After Hours events is that you can enjoy as many bottled sodas/waters, novelty ice creams, and popcorn as you’d like! So naturally I’m just going to eat them until I’m sick. ????
Shannon also posted to their Instagram stories, explaining that capacity was much lower — meaning crowds were slim to none! This shouldn’t be too much of a surprise as Boo Bash is considered an After Hours event rather than a Halloween Party.

Another Instagram user, Allyson (@magicallymainstreet17), also mentioned that the low crowds are great, as seen below.

However, there were some complaints from Allyson, including characters and PhotoPass.

And Instagram user Erica (@vacays_by_erica) posted a screenshot from My Disney Experience showing the low wait times during Boo Bash! It seems as though low crowds and low wait times are certainly a highlight of attending this After Hours event. Erica writes:
Disney’s Boo Bash After Hours Event debuted last night! Check out the wait times for this exclusive event! Plus FREE popcorn, ice cream novelties, soft drinks, bottled water and candy!? Yes please!! ?❤ […]
Simply A&L (@simplyaandl) attended Boo Bash last night and expressed how much fun they had:
Disney’s BOO BASH at Magic Kingdom was everything we expected and more! We had the best time & we’re so excited to share our vlog soon! ??
Lindsay (@lindsay.poison.apple.travel) expressed how much fun they had at Boo Bash, indicating it certainly is worth the price tag:
All I can say is wow about Disney’s Boo Bash!!
We didn’t get back until 1:15 last night but our girls hung in until the last second. In fact, that little Alice was begging to do more! We rode TONS of rides with barely any wait, including Mine Train! We saw each and every character cavalcade. We saw characters that you can only see during exclusive events. And, we trick-or-treated all through the park!
It was an amazing night, topped off by my absolute favorite photo pass opportunity….the Rapunzel lantern photo!!!

We did notice that even those who were not attending Boo Bash were getting excited about the After Hours event!
One user, who goes by Tennis Girl (@TennisChik), Tweeted out explaining that even though they were not attending Boo Bash, reading all of the posts about Boo Bash made them really excited:
This is me all night reading all the posts from the first @WaltDisneyWorld Boo Bash! Hearing “Boo To You” made me SO happy! I don’t even care that it will be stuck in my head all week! It’s never too early for Halloween! Especially Disney style! #boobash #boobash2021

Though many people took to social media to share how much fun they had as well as the perks of Boo Bash, there were some voicing their complaints. In fact one Twitter user, Elizabeth (@dreamingstar213) took to the social media platform to ask why so many people were complaining as she saw low crowds, low wait times, and several characters out:
Okay wait, what exactly are people not liking about boo bash? Everything I’ve seen looks great? Super low crowds, bunches of characters out, low wait times, boo to you playing?

To which Park Hopper Zach (@parkhopperzach) explained:
Everything else from Not So Scary ? I can ride the rides year round so I just want some headless horseman, deep space mountain, and boo to you.

And another Twitter user, Elizabeth (@GlassHouseMous3), explained they heard complaints about candy:

Overall, it seems many were satisfied with what Boo Bash had to offer, especially the fact that there were minimal crowds, low wait times, and fun ways to interact with the Disney characters. Though, some did complain of the lack of a schedule for characters as well as a lack of candy.

Again, keep in mind that Disney After Hours BOO BASH is a special three-hour event that begins when Magic Kingdom closes! Guests will experience special Halloween party music, boo-tiful decorations, and character cavalcades to celebrate the spooky season.
Guests of all ages will also be able to dress in costume for the occasion and even get their fill of Halloween candy, exclusive food offerings, spooktacular entertainment, experience favorite attractions, and more!
This year’s Halloween event will run on select nights from August 10 through October 31 at Magic Kingdom.
