In 2019, Disney fans were ecstatic when Walt Disney World announced an all-new attraction themed after the story of Moana would be arriving at EPCOT.
The new and upcoming attraction, which will be called Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana, will be the “first-ever experience inspired by the Walt Disney Animation Studios’ hit film [and] will let Guests interact with magical, living water in a beautiful and inspiring setting,” according to Disney officials.
Now, thanks to bioreconstruct on Twitter, we have another update for you regarding this upcoming EPCOT attraction.

It seems as though construction is coming along nicely at the site of Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana as it wasn’t long ago we reported that the site for where the Moana-inspired attraction will sit is now visible.
Now, bioreconstruct (@bioreconstruct) is sharing a more recent look at the construction from the newly opened EPCOT Monorail:

It seems as though Disney Imagineers are continuing to make progress at Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana as the construction site is beginning to come to life.
At this time, we do not have an opening date for the Walt Disney World Resort attraction, but Disney recently did indicate it would open sometime in 2021. Inside the Magic will continue to update you as we get information regarding Journey of Water.

Please keep in mind that the upcoming Moana-inspired attraction is just that — An attraction, not a ride. Think of it more as an experience. Disney describes the attraction as it “will let Guests interact with magical, living water in a beautiful and inspiring setting.”
