If Florida summers are known for one thing (aside from the heat) it’s rain.
Summertime at Walt Disney World consists of lots of sun, several thunderstorms, and random pop-up showers — meaning, if you have an upcoming vacation, be prepared! Bring sunscreen, sunglasses, hats, light clothing, and ponchos as both the sun and the rain consistently compete with one another during the summer months in Florida.

On a recent trip to Magic Kingdom, Guests were flooded (literally) with torrential rainstorms as water completely filled Tomorrowland.
Reddit user, mercurialpolyglot, shared a photo to the social media platform which showed the rainwater building up in Tomorrowland near the entrance to Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin. The user made an excellent point, writing:
Ah, good ol’ Florida. Good thing I had brought my flip flops.

Many Guests tend to wear sneakers to the theme parks as Walt Disney World vacations consist of a lot of walking; however, do keep in mind that with summer rainstorms in Florida, your sneakers and socks may soon become soaked.
We highly recommend looking for a comfortable pair of flip-flops to bring on your next Disney vacation as a backup in case you get caught in a torrential rain pour!

It is also important to keep in mind that having a stormy day at the parks could really change the trajectory of your day at times as select Disney World attractions may close due to the rain. With this being said, there are many attractions at the theme parks located indoors that Guests can enjoy while they wait out the storm.
Make sure to download the My Disney Experience app onto your phone as Disney will continue to update wait times and ride closures within this app.
