Disney has just announced that they will be reopening Trader Sam’s Grogg Grotto today, July 19, 2021.
Here are all the details!
Fans have been waiting to enjoy a tiki cocktail at Trader Sam’s for well over a year. The beloved lounge at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort has remained closed as the hotel has undergone some extensive renovations. Rooms at the Polynesian have been transformed to include the characters and colors of the Disney animated film, Moana.
Today, July 19, is the grand reopening of the Guest rooms at the Polynesian with the Moana theme! Previously only the Disney Vacation Club villas have been open at the Polynesian while the Guest rooms were undergoing their Moana transformation. Now the DVC villas will close as they are scheduled to undergo refurbishment as well.
Disney quietly made this big announcement about Trader Sams reopening today, stating that:
Another Disney fan favorite, Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto, is reopening today at the resort. You can now once again explore this amazing tropical tiki bar filled with interesting artifacts and exotic treasures and experience the romance of the South Seas through unique food and drinks.
This is not the only big announcement coming out of the Polynesian! Disney also announced that the Polynesian Village Resort is getting an updated pool bar. You can read the details of the new Barefoot Pool Bar here.
What else is happening around Disney’s Polynesian Resort? Currently, the monorail station is closed as it is being transformed by the creative minds at Disney. Of course, it is a quick walk (depending on where your room is) to the Ticket and Transportation Center from the Polynesian so you can hop on a monorail heading to the Magic Kingdom or EPCOT from there.
The Trader Sam’s location at the Disneyland Resort has previously reopened, so now for the first time in well over a year, both Trader Sam’s locations are open once again.
