It’s time for a tropical Polynesian-inspired vacation right in the middle of Florida! Hotel rooms at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort are reopening soon, and Disney fans are thrilled to stay at this Guest-favorite Resort at Walt Disney World.
The Poly has been operating with limitations for some time. The Disney Vacation Club villas and select dining (including Captain Cook’s and Kona Café) have been available, but regular Guest rooms have not. So, when the regular hotel rooms reopen at the Poly, what will be different, and what can we expect? In this article, we will go over all of the changes coming to Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort so you can be prepared for your upcoming visit.

The Renovated Moana Rooms Are Available
The reopening date for the Moana-inspired hotel rooms at the Poly is July 19, 2021.
So, starting this July, the Moana rooms are available! The Moana retheme is consistent across all regular hotel rooms at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort — unlike the themed rooms at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter and Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, you will not need to request a themed room at the Poly. If you book a hotel room, your room will be Moana-themed!
The Monorail Station Is Not Open
Keep in mind that if you are planning to stay at or visit Disney’s Polynesian, the Monorail station will not be open.
Disney stated, “While most of the resort areas and amenities will be available, the renovation of the monorail station continues and monorail service to and from the resort remains temporarily unavailable.”
As we noted in our article about the Monorail station at the Polynesian Village Resort, there are a variety of transportations to and from the Resort, including buses to Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Watercraft service is also available to Magic Kingdom.
The Main Entrance to the Great Ceremonial House Is Closed
It has also been confirmed that the front entrance to the Great Ceremonial House — the main building at the Poly where the Resort lobby is located — is not yet reopening. The building itself is open, but the front entrance will not be accessible.
Disney shared, “The front entrance to the Great Ceremonial House will also open at a later date, and Cast Members will be available to assist Guests in accessing the side entrance to the Great Ceremonial House in the meantime.”
‘Ohana Is Reopening With Some Modifications
If you love the ‘Ohana restaurant, you will be happy to know that the restaurant is reopening on July 9, 10 days before the Resort hotel rooms reopen. When the restaurant reopens for all-you-care-to-enjoy breakfast and dinner, there will be no character dining, but many menu staples will be returning — including the beloved noodles.
