Last year, Walt Disney World Resort announced that Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort would be undergoing a major reimagining. Among the many changes to the popular Deluxe Resort hotel are a new Monorail station and Guest rooms rethemed to include characters and motifs from Moana (2016).
It is worth noting that Disney Vacation Club members have had use of the DVC Villas and Overwater Bungalows at the Polynesian during the Resort’s renovation.
The Resort, which has been closed to non-DVC Guests for over a year due to ongoing construction and Disney World’s COVID-19 closure, is finally nearing its official reopening date. Guests will once again be able to experience the magic of Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort on July 19, 2021 — but, there’s a catch.
The Resort’s Monorail service will not be operational on reopening day. Per Disney:
While most of the resort areas and amenities will be available, the renovation of the monorail station continues and monorail service to and from the resort remains temporarily unavailable. The front entrance to the Great Ceremonial House will also open at a later date, and Cast Members will be available to assist Guests in accessing the side entrance to the Great Ceremonial House in the meantime.

Fortunately, there are a number of other transportation options Guests can take advantage of at this time. They can walk to the Ticket and Transportation Center (TTC) to board the Monorail there or take the ferry. Guests can also utilize the new walkway that was completed in November 2020!
At this time, Disney has not confirmed when Monorail service to and from Disney’s Polynesian Resort will resume.
The official description of Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort reads:
Celebrate the spirit of the South Pacific at this oasis of tropical palms, lush vegetation and so much more.
