Be Our Guest and Gaston’s Tavern in Fantasyland at Magic Kingdom have been fan-favorite spots for Guests ever since they first opened in 2012. But now, as we inch closer to the 50th anniversary, could these locations be gearing up for a special makeover for the milestone?

According to a new permit, which you can view here, Disney is preparing to do “general construction” for the area that is home to Be Our Guest, Gaston’s Tavern, and the restrooms nearby.
This could be just generalized maintenance that Disney wants to do to ensure the area is in tip-top shape and appeals to Guests. However, another possibility is that the permit could have been filed so that the theme park could transform this area to commemorate 50 years of magic at Walt Disney World.

We have already seen the theme park spruce up other areas of the park, including the Tangled-themed restrooms, parts of Fantasyland including Prince Charming Regal Carrousel, and Casey Jr.’s Soak ‘n’ Splash, so Disney World could be thinking of transforming the Beauty and the Beast-themed area as well.
Again, at this time, we are unsure of what exactly the permit was filed for, but Inside the Magic will update you as we get information.
