On January 25, 2021, Walt Disney World officially retired one of its popular Disney Park interactive games — Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom.

If you’ve never had the chance to play this game at Walt Disney World, it allowed Guests to go on a scavenger hunt around Magic Kingdom. The reason for its retirement is due to the game utilizing older technology and paper playing cards. With times continuing to change, technology progressing, and smartphones being used for nearly everything, Disney is continuing to adjust theme park offerings so they adapt to the new era. And because of that, unfortunately, this Disney Park game was a bit outdated, even with its very loyal fan base.

Now that the game has officially retired, many who played the game are stuck with paper playing cards that can no longer be used and some are wondering what they can do with these souvenirs. Well, one fan figured out a way to still utilize these playing cards — By recreating the Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom game inside his own home!

Reddit user ThatFLFeeling took to the social media platform to share a video of how he made his very own (and actually working) Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom interactive game!

They utilized a 3-D printer to recreate a key, much similar to those iconic touch points found throughout Magic Kingdom (as seen below).

They then used wiring and other technologies to ensure that the key point would actually work. In order to test it out, they not only held their MagicBand up to the key — But also one of the playing cards they collected from the game!

More on Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom

In case you aren’t familiar, Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom was an interactive scavenger hunt at Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World that allowed Guests to work with Merlin and stop Hades from taking over the theme park. The official description stated:

Hades has an evil plan to make Magic Kingdom park his new summer home. He’s enlisted a brigade of Disney baddies—Cruella, Scar, Jafar, Maleficent, Ursula, Yzma, Ratcliffe and Dr. Facilier—to help track down 4 enchanted crystal shards, which are hidden throughout the park. It’s up to you to foil their plans and save the day.

Get ready for spellbinding adventures at every turn!
