What is the AquaMouse?

The AquaMouse is the first Disney attraction at sea. Similar to the new Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway attraction that is found at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Walt Disney World and coming soon to Disneyland — The AquaMouse will take Guests through an exciting journey with Mickey Mouse and the gang through a brand new animated short called Suba Scramble.

Now, thanks to a new behind-the-scenes video released by Disney we have some photos of Disney Imagineers developing the AquaMouse attraction in addition to photos inside of the ride.

Here you can see Imagineers inside of the attraction looking at a screen that is playing Suba Scramble.

We also got a much closer look at the ride vehicle that will be utilized for this attraction. Much like the concept art, we have previously seen for the AquaMouse this raft will hold two people, so decide who you want to ride the AquaMouse with now!

The ride vehicle is a beautiful blue with cartoon “patches” and other drawings that are in the style of the new Mickey Mouse animated shorts. The colors used on the raft remind us of Donald Duck!

In addition, we can see inside of the AquaMouse while the attraction is running. While it is clear that this is unfinished, it still gives us a great feel of how this attraction will run when it opens. We cannot say for certain but we assume that this tunnel will be illuminated with projections of Mickey and Minnie in Scuba Scramble.

If you have ever visited Universal’s Volcano Bay you can draw some comparisons to the AquaMouse from the Krakatau Aqua Coaster which at first glance appear to share a similar ride system. We will have to see how similar they actually are when we ride the AquaMouse in person.
