According to the Universal Hollywood website:

While most rides will be operational, some rides and attractions will reopen at a later date as the theme park complies with government restrictions.

Here is a list of our great rides, shows and attractions that are currently scheduled to be open:

  • The Secret Life of Pets: Off the Leash
  • Jurassic World: The Ride
  • Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey™
  • Flight of the Hippogriff™
  • Transformers™: The Ride-3D
  • Revenge of the Mummy℠ – The Ride
  • Studio Tour™ including Fast & Furious – Supercharged and King Kong 360 3-D
  • Silly Swirly Fun Ride
  • Universal’s Animal Actors

The Secret Life of Pets: Off the Leash will be a brand-new ride located near Despicable Me: Minion Mayhem.  When the park reopens this month, it will be the first time Guests will be able to ride the attraction since it was announced last February.  Universal Hollywood shut down due to the pandemic before the ride could officially open to the public.

While that is most of the rides that are available at the park, there are some rides that will be closed.  Those rides are:

  • Despicable Me: Minion Mayhem
  • DreamWorks Theater Featuring Kung Fu Panda
  • DinoPlay (located in the Jurassic Park area)
  • Special Effects Show
  • The Simpsons Ride™
  • WaterWorld®

Universal Hollywood has also noted that their “child switch” option for rides will also be available to those Guests with children too young to ride, or who do not want to ride the attraction.

Also available when the park opens will be Universal’s Express Pass, which allows Guest front-of-the-line access to certain attractions.  According to Universal:

Yes, a Universal Express™ ticket provides you with one-time express access to each ride and attraction and priority seating at select shows, in addition to all day admission to the Park.* Express access is a separate line with a shorter wait time at each ride and attraction and a priority seating area at select shows.

Only limited quantities of Universal Express™ tickets are available each day, so we recommend buying yours online in advance of arrival.

Platinum Annual Pass Members receive one-time (per day) Universal Express™ access to each ride and attraction and priority seating at select shows.* For all other Pass Members and guests, you can upgrade in-Park to Universal Express™ ticket for the day (subject to availability), which is available at the Universal Box Office.

*Does not apply to food and retail locations or non-seated shows.

Universal Hollywood has not specifically said whether lockers will be open and available for rental when the park opens.

It should be noted that the California theme park will only be open to in-state residents at this time.  There is no timetable as to how long that mandate will stay in place.

Tickets for California residents will begin on April 8.  Tickets went on sale today for Pass Members who would like to attend a Pass Member preview before the park officially opens.

Universal is continuously updating their site as they get closer to the official reopening, so Guests can check the website as needed.  Inside the Magic will also post park opening updates as we see them!
