First Disneyland, now Universal. The southern California theme parks are slowly announcing closures due to coronavirus concerns. Like Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, Universal Studios Hollywood will close through the end of March.

Universal shared the announcement today on the Hollywood theme park’s website:

The health and safety of our team members and guests is always our top priority. Out of an abundance of caution and in response to the guidance provided by the California Department of Public Health, Universal Studios Hollywood will temporarily close beginning Saturday, March 14. The theme park anticipates reopening on March 28 as we continue to monitor the situation.

Universal CityWalk will remain open. We will provide timely updates as conditions evolve.

If guests have questions regarding tickets, they can call 866-258-6546.

At the time of this article’s publication, Universal Studios Hollywood has not yet shared the announcement on the theme park’s social media pages, nor have any Universal park officials shared statements regarding the closure.  The only information provide so far has been on the official website. The announcement to close Universal’s California theme park came just hours after Disney Parks News announced that the two parks at the Disneyland Resort — Disneyland park and Disney California Adventure park — will be closing beginning March 14 and will remain closed through the end of the month, or until further notice. Universal Orlando Resort also just announced that it will be closing its theme parks temporarily as coronavirus continues to spread. Universal Orlando Resort includes Universal Studios park, Islands of Adventure park, Volcano Bay water park, and several onsite hotels. Inside the Magic will continue to update our website should Universal share more information regarding coronavirus and the Florida theme parks.

We hope everyone continues to stay safe and healthy during this time.
