At Disneyland Paris, the road to reopening has been a rocky one indeed. After closing for a second time and having to delay their April 2 reopening due pandemic-era restrictions in France, Disneyland Paris Resort remains temporarily closed, with many Guests are itching to get back to enjoy both Disneyland Park and Walt Disney Studios Park.
But even though the parks are closed, Disney fans should get excited about what will be available once the park does reopen, because Disney has quite a lot up its sleeve.
Aside from the fact that Sleeping Beauty Castle (Le Château de la Belle au Bois Dormant) is undergoing a huge transformation to prep for the parks 30th anniversary next year, which will be a huge draw for Guests, it seems that Disneyland Paris is going to put a big focus on characters when the parks reopen and bring back the magic.
In a new interview, Vice President for Shows David Duffy spoke on how Disneyland Paris is going to bring more character interactions and special moments to the parks. It seems that during Disneyland Paris’s first reopening amid the pandemic in 2020, Guests took a huge liking to all of the different selfie spots that were available with the characters, so that is why DLP is getting ready to add more.
In the interview, Duffy discussed how there will be a Star Wars Selfie Spot at Videopolis with even more Star Wars characters than ever before. There will also be a grand return of the Cheshire Cat characters train with all of the Alice in Wonderland pals.
It gets better. Duffy noted that there will be over 50 characters interacting with Guests from a distance each day, which is a huge amount and will allow for Guests to see some of the more rare characters that may not always be around.
Duffy also touched on special entertainment offerings that were around during the first reopening of Disneyland Paris, and how Disney plans to enhance them.
Disneyland Park, for example, was doing the Kiss Goodnight on Sleeping Beauty Castle with all of the characters coming to the train station to wave goodbye to Guests. Duffy mentioned that there will be more unique offerings such as those and that there will be new music tracks to underscore them.
If you have ever been to a Disney Park, you know that adding any original Disney track to an entertainment offering enhances that experience tenfold. Therefore, even though we won’t have parades back, it seems like it will be super magical for Guests to hear the new music and witness these new entertainment offerings that have not been seen before!

Also, Disneyland Paris recently announced that they are creating a booking system on the Disneyland Paris app for character meet and greets to return when the Hotel New York – The Art of Marvel opens. This just goes to show that Disneyland Paris is doing their best to bring back as much entertainment to Guests as possible to create what will be seen as a more typical and normal park day.
For now, Disneyland Paris remains closed. We will update our website when Disney officially announces a new reopening date for the Disney Parks in France. Find official information on the Disneyland Paris website here.
