This will be the first time Sleeping Beauty Castle is refurbished on this scale at Disneyland Paris since the opening of the park. The makeover is happening so that the castle is decked out for the park’s 30th anniversary. This refurbishment has been a plan of 2 years in the making. The Artistic Director for Disneyland Paris Tracy Eck mentioned, “For the roofs, for example, we will work with craftsmen who also work on historical monuments,” which is pretty incredible.
Some parts of the castle are already being built offsite, and once they are complete Disneyland Paris will remove the old sections (mostly the towers) and replace them with the new. If you are planning on visiting Disneyland Paris in 2021 and are worried about what it is going to look like, there are some positives! Although the castle will be wrapped in a decorative scrim, the inside of the castle will still be available for Guests to enter. Plus the decorative covering is probably some of the most realistic we have seen to date with the castle being placed in separate 3-D sections that cover the work being done underneath.
At the moment, we do not know exactly what is going to be done to the castle, but in this video released by DLP Report, we can see blue tones being looked at so it seems the color scheme will not diverge too heavily from what we have now.
