Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure have both remained closed due to the pandemic. Ever since the theme parks shut their gates in March 2020, Guests have been eager to once again soak up the magic and get the Disneyland experience.
And now we have some great news to share because when Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure reopen on April 30, Guests will be able to spot Mickey and the gang as well as Disney Princesses, Marvel superheroes, and more!
Disney Parks Blog just recently shared some of the character interactions Guests can look forward to when the parks reopen at the end of the month.
While roaming through Main Street U.S.A., Guests may have the chance to wave to Mickey Mouse and some of his pals at the railroad station or even at their homes in Mickey’s Toontown!
Favorite characters may be spotted throughout the day waving to visiting friends, posing in the background of photos and having fun playing in the parks. At Disneyland park, you may see Mickey Mouse and some of his pals from the steps of the Main Street, U.S.A. railroad station. Or perhaps they may be found outside their homes in Mickey’s Toontown, waving a friendly welcome to visitors of all ages.
In Galaxy’s Edge, Guests may spot some familiar faces, too! Disney Parks Blog writes:
You may also come across some familiar faces as you wander Black Spire Outpost, including Rey, Chewbacca and Vi Moradi. They may be spotted above the speeder garage at Black Spire Station. Watch out for Stormtroopers, along with Kylo Ren himself, patrolling a platform where a TIE Echelon starfighter looms.
And be on the lookout because Disney Parks Blog shared that Disney Princesses will also be making special appearances as well as Captain Jack Sparrow, and Miguel from Coco:
You may also see Disney Princesses like Mulan or Belle at the Royal Theatre in Fantasyland or look to the beautiful balconies of New Orleans Square to catch sight of Captain Jack Sparrow. At Rancho del Zocolo in Frontierland, you might also catch intermittent appearances by Miguel from Disney and Pixar’s “Coco.”
Over at Disney California Adventure, Guests will be able to see Disney Junior friends such as Vampirina and Doc McStuffins. Per Disney Parks Blog:
Character sightings at Disney California Adventure park may include friends appearing at Carthay Circle and the Pixar Pier bandshell. Disney Junior stars, from Vampirina to Doc McStuffins, may say hello from the stage of the Disney Theater in Hollywood Land.
And be sure to swing by Hollywood Land to see some of your favorite superheroes such as Black Widow, Thor, Spider-Man and more! These characters will then be regular visitors at Avengers Campus when it opens to Guests on June 4.
Throughout the day in Hollywood Land at Disney California Adventure park, cheer for some of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, including Black Widow, Captain America, Thor, Spider-Man, Black Panther and the Dora Milaje, as they strike heroic poses from the Hollywood Backlot Stage. These Super Heroes will then be regular visitors at Avengers Campus, when the new land opens on June 4.
We cannot wait to see some of our favorite Disney characters roaming around the theme parks later this month!
More Information on Disneyland’s Reopening
We already know that when the parks reopen, some amenities — including FASTPASS, Disney MaxPass, Magic Mornings, and Extra Magic Hour offerings — will be suspended as part of the phased reopening efforts amid the pandemic. This is not too much of a surprise, as this is similar to what Walt Disney World did when they reopened last summer.
The official Disneyland website also explains that select attractions and certain experiences that draw crowds, including parades and nighttime spectaculars, will return at a later date. Again, this isn’t too much of a surprise since this is similar to how Disney World is currently operating amid the pandemic:
Additionally, select attractions and certain experiences that draw large group gatherings—such as parades and nighttime spectaculars—will return at a later date. While character meet-and-greets will be temporarily unavailable, Characters will be in our parks in new ways to entertain and delight our Guests.
At this time, Downtown Disney District is open to Guests for select outdoor dining and shopping. And Disney California Adventure has recently opened up portions of its theme park as they are hosting an event titled A Touch of Disney.
A Touch of Disney is bringing Guests a selection of iconic food and beverage items from both Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure as well as seeing Mickey and the gang from a safe social distance! At this time, A Touch of Disney is sold out, but the event will run through April 19.
For more information on this event, visit Disneyland’s website here.
