As we previously discussed, when Twilight Zone Tower of Terror at Disney California Adventure in Disneyland was re-themed to Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout!, director James Gunn and the full Guardians crew — Chris Pratt (Peter Quill/Star-Lord), Zoe Saldana (Gamora), Bradley Cooper (Rocket Raccoon), Dave Bautista (Drax), Pom Klementieff (Mantis), Vin Diesel (Groot), and Benecio Del Toro (The Collector) — were all part of the ride.
Now, for the upcoming Cosmic Rewind coaster in EPCOT, Gunn will be doing the same.

We reported that it was rumored Taika Waititi would be filming the Cosmic Rewind sequences with the Guardians since they are set to appear in Thor: Love and Thunder, which is Waititi’s next film. That being said, Gunn has confirmed that he will indeed be involved with the shooting of the Cosmic Rewind scenes, but also, confirmed that filming is still “on the agenda”, indicating it has not yet begun.
Twitter user David (@DavidRGH) asked Gunn:
Are ride scenes for GotG: Cosmic Rewind also on the itinerary @JamesGunn, or has that been done separately?
To which Gunn replied:
Yes Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind at Disneyworld is also on the agenda.

At the moment, we can see that construction is still ongoing within the EPCOT attraction and since the filmed scenes have yet to be completed, as they are “on the agenda” according to Gunn, it seems that the ride’s progress still has a while to go before it will be ready for Guests to ride.
With that being said, we do want to note that although Disney has not yet released an opening date for Cosmic Rewind, they have previously confirmed this attraction as a “priority project”.
