And now, thanks to Orlando Sentinel as well as the D23 Inside Disney podcast, we have some additional details all about what Guests can expect when riding Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure. It’s clear that this attraction will immerse Guests into the world of Pixar.

“It’s really all those little things that are happening around us that really bring that story to life,” Matt Beiler, Senior Producer, said, according to Orlando Sentinel.

It’s those details that really immerse Guests into the story of Ratatouille. For example, Orlando Sentinel said that within the pantry scene specifically, Guests will come across huge links of sausage and other meats and on a nearby shelf, there’s a container labeled “Fromage de Gusteau.” Riders will also notice a 25-foot-long fish dangling from the ceiling and at the end of the pantry room, there is a big vertical screen that is meant to represent a freezer.

Just like its predecessor at the Disneyland Paris theme park Walt Disney Studios, the new Ratatouille ride at EPCOT is set to shrink down riders to the size of a rat. Riders will then have to scurry along with Chef Remy through Gusteau’s Restaurant in an adorable rat-shaped ride vehicle.

According to Orlando Sentinel, Veronica Hebbard, Project Controls Specialist, explained, “Everything seems big to you so that transition between 3D media and then into these humongous shows sets. You know, the big fish … the oversized mop … all of it to really make you feel like you are Remy.”

Disney World Guests who ride the attraction can expect to see a variety of characters from the Disney Pixar film, including Chef Remy of course, along with the sounds, sights and smells of the restaurant. There will be special water and heat effects included in the ride. The set and projections are designed to work with the ride vehicles, which will give Guests an illusion of some sort.

“That does give you the perspective that you’re moving. You already know you’re moving because the ride vehicle makes you feel like you are. But that’s an added touch,” Hebbard said.

When talking about the story of the upcoming attraction, Beiler explained to Orlando Sentinel, “We’re able to tell the story through the vehicle. It is, in a sense, a character within the story because it can scurry around like a rat would. We can dart fast or it can sort of go slow and really enjoy the scene that you’re in. … it really helps us to feel the emotion that we want you to feel while in this attraction.”

Additionally in a recent D23 podcast, Director of Public Relations for Walt Disney World Resort Dave Coombs shared that the upcoming EPCOT attraction will actually begin before Guests even step inside the queue.

“This is so exciting yes we’re opening a new attraction and in fact a whole new expansion to the France pavilion,” Coombs said on the D23 Inside Disney podcast. “It’s such a great attraction I mean it begins as soon, well actually begins before you walk into the attraction. First of all, the detail in the whole kind of plaza surrounding the attraction is amazing. It’s like you’re in Paris but also it’s also like you’ve stepped into a Pixar film and they use something called crookedology to actually make the architecture look like you’re in an animation rather than in real Paris, which is so cool.”

When talking about stepping into the queue to wait for your turn to board a ride vehicle, Coombs explained, “And then also as you enter the queue line everything around you gets larger and larger and larger because as you ride the attraction you have been shrunk to the size of the rat and it’s an incredible experience it really is.”

More on Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure

In case you aren’t familiar, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure will be a trackless 4D dark ride attraction, which is based on the 2007 Disney-Pixar animated film, Ratatouille. The new ride will shrink down riders to the size of a rat who will then have to scurry along with Chef Remy through Gusteau’s Restaurant in an adorable rat-shaped ride vehicle.

For the upcoming Ratatouille ride, Walt Disney Imagineering has partnered with Pixar to make sure what the Disney Imagineers are building is staying true to the story and staying true to the overall idea.

There is currently another Disney attraction titled Ratatouille: L’Aventure Totalement Toquée de Rémy, which opened in Disneyland Paris a few years ago. The new Disney World attraction is expected to be a close replica of the Disneyland Paris attraction.
