In 2020, Walt Disney World Resort had to make the difficult decision to cancel many of its after hours and ticketed events, including the Magic Kingdom events Villains After HoursMickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, and Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party.

However, if Disney World were to bring these events back to the theme parks in 2021, would Guests feel safe attending? Would a majority of people purchase the extra ticket to go? We asked our Inside the Magic audience and here’s what we found!

Ticketed Events at Disney World

In case you aren’t familiar, a ticketed event at Walt Disney World is an event that happens after theme park hours which requires Guests to purchase a special ticket in order to attend. These Disney Park events cannot be attended with a normal theme park ticket, Guests must purchase a separate ticket in order to attend one of these events.

Special ticketed events that have occurred at Walt Disney World Resort in the past include Villains After Hours, Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, and Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, which all occur at Magic Kingdom. Additionally, Disney World hosts Disney After Hours which occurs at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and Magic Kingdom as well as Disney H2O Glow Nights at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon.

Guests Speak Out Regarding Ticketed Events

If Walt Disney World were to bring back special ticketed events in 2021 to the theme parks, with proper safety protocols put in place of course, would a majority of Guests feel safe attending? Would they be willing to spend the extra money for the special event ticket in order to experience the magic? Our Inside the Magic audience has spoken and we found that the answer is — Yes!

A majority of our followers told us that they would “absolutely” attend a ticketed special event at Walt Disney World if they were to return to the theme park this year.

Candance (@mugsbugs23) stated, “Absolutely no concerns. Would go in a heart beat! Bring em back,” while Steven (@steven_ott_) shared “Absolutely!!!!! these events are some of the best that Disney offers so I’d be back ASAP!”

J.J. (@jjgrimes7) shared that she really wants to see some sort of normalcy return and she would be on board with ticketed events making a comeback in 2021. “Absolutely! No concerns at all, it needs to come back with some form of normalcy to say the least.”

And Krishna (@kgramaraju), shared “Yes, I would. I am not clear on why some people see these events as a greater ‘risk’ than a regular day at the parks”, while Mar on Instagram (@wrenfan9) told Inside the Magic, “Absolutely no concerns at all…really missed MNSSHP this year..always the highlight of my trip.”

Renee (@reneefrechette) made an excellent point when it comes to crowds at ticketed events, saying “Yep. Crowds are way smaller anyways”, which is something we also pointed out in our recent article here.

Libbey, (@libbeystearns), said that she would love to see these return, however, she would only attend if parades and shows were also brought back. “MNSSHP is the best ticketed event on property,” Libbery writes. “I have spoken. I would only go provided that they brought back parades & shows, however. Those are the best.”

And Emily (@emilyazd21) shared her thoughts regarding Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, “I would definitely go to MNSSHP!!!!! I do think the capacity should be reduced but it can be done safely for sure!!!!”

All in all, it seems as though a majority of Disney World fans would, in fact, attend a special ticketed event if they did make a return in 2021 — As long as proper precautions were put in place of course.

Keep in mind that Walt Disney World has not yet confirmed that ticketed events would come back in 2021 but Inside the Magic will continue to update you as we get information.
