It appears Thor: Love and Thunder continues to make progress “Down Under” and that thunder from the proverbial storm is getting louder and louder for anticipating Marvel fans.

We knew that the follow-up film to Taika Waititi’s Thor: Ragnarok would include characters from James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy franchise, and reports are now coming in that actors Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, and Karen Gillan arrived in Sydney, Australia by private jet on Friday, January 8, and began their mandatory 14-day quarantine inside their hotel.

The news was broken by Daily Mail which caught Pratt entering his new home.

While, again, it was already expected that Star-Lord (AKA Peter Quill), Drax, Rocket, and Groot were going to appear alongside Chris Hemsworth, what appears to be the surprise addition is Gillan who brought Gamora’s sister Nebula to life in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Perhaps she has joined the Guardians in the aftermath of Avengers: Endgame — or the Guardians team may be filming the reportedly Taika directed sequences for the upcoming Walt Disney World Resort attraction, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind in conjunction with Thor 4. We will update our readers as more information comes to light.

The news that the Guardians stars are now in Australia also gives hope that progress continues to be made on this Marvel production — especially after spikes in COVID-19 cases triggered another nationwide lockdown in the U.K. that forced several Disney-owned projects like Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness to be shuttered once again.

The Guardians will also not be the only MCU veterans to return to the screen in this film. Natalie Portman will also return to reprise her role as Jane Foster, Jaimie Alexander will return as Lady Sif, and Tessa Thompson will reprise her role as Valkyrie.

According to Comicbook.com, Thompson recently stated this about her character.

“Yeah. I can tease that she’s definitely King of New Asgard when we find her. And as was the case in the last four, I would say that she’s a part of an adventure that involved Thor, in the sense that it’s called Thor: Love and Thunder. And I’d say there’s some cool stuff going on. We have some new characters; we have some folks potentially from other pockets of the MCU. And then we have some folks, maybe, that we’ve seen before.”

We also previously reported that Marvel newcomer Christian Bale is confirmed to play the film’s villain, Gorr the God Butcher.

Thor: Love and Thunder is scheduled to hit theaters on May 6, 2022, allowing the MCU franchise to boast 4 standalone films for the first time.
