Beloved shops like Elias & Co. and restaurants — including the gorgeous Carthay Circle — will be reopening to Guests “sometime in November” of this year.
Once the partial reopening announcement was made, Disney fans instantly began speculating about what this could mean for Main Street, U.S.A at Disneyland Park. Was there hope to stroll through the Emporium and see Sleeping Beauty Castle decked out for the Christmas season this year?
The answer, it would seem, is “not right now.” According to a Patch report:
As of yet, there are not plans to reopen Main Street of Disneyland Resort, the spokesperson said.
When it [Disney California Adventure’s Buena Vista Street] opens, guests will arrive into the Downtown Disney District after proper health screening, conducted by Hoag Hospital staff.

There are clearly logistical issues that would have to be dealt with in regard to reopening both Disneyland Resort theme parks for shopping and dining this holiday season. Since the Disneyland Backlot Premiere Shop is already available at Disney California Adventure, it serves to reason that it will be the first of Disneyland’s two parks to offer additional shopping and dining options.
This exciting partial reopening of California Adventure, though, does give park goers a glimmer of hope — and a lot of holiday magic! It will be nice to revisit DCA, in part, especially during these uncertain times for Disneyland Resort as a whole.
Remember, the Downtown Disney District has begun its phased reopening process and is currently available to Guests.
Do you think Disney will decide to open Disneyland’s Main Street, U.S.A. for holiday shopping or will it stay closed into 2021?
