Wait Times Continue to Increase – Should WDW Bring Back FastPass+?

Wait Times Fast Pass+

When Walt Disney World reopened its theme parks to the public, several changes were implemented as they kept safety in mind — One of them being the elimination of FastPass+.

According to the official Disney World Website:

FastPass+ Selections

As a result of the COVID-19 impact, the FastPass+ service will be suspended for the time being as we plan to use additional queue space to manage capacity at our attractions and maintain physical distancing. We will automatically cancel existing FastPass+ selections and share any future updates on the service at a later date.

Though several Guests were upset to see Disney remove FastPass for the time being, many understand why this had to happen in order to reopen the parks. However, now with the parks getting busier and wait times for attractions becoming steadily increased, some are now wondering if its time for Disney World to bring back the FastPass+ service.

Current Average Wait Times

On October 1, the average wait times for Magic Kingdom ranged from 25-55 minutes, which you can see in the screenshot taken from My Disney Experience below.

Also on October 1, the average wait times for Disney’s Hollywood Studios ranged from 30-60 minutes, which you can see in the screenshot taken from My Disney Experience below.

And on September 26, this Twitter user pointed out that at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, the line for one of the Toy Story attractions started all the way at Joffrey’s near the entrance to Toy Story Land. And Slinky Dog’s line began at Voyage of The Little Mermaid.

The Future of FastPass+

At this time, Disney has not yet announced if or when they would be bringing back the FastPass+ service, but with wait times continuing to increase and with park hours still somewhat reduced, Guests are worried they won’t have enough time to do everything in the theme parks with wait times consistently being over an hour long.

Some users have taken to Twitter recently to voice their frustrations, hoping Disney would bring back the service.

@SeaDisney77 writes “Remember when Disney purists were like, FastPass ruins the experience and makes lines longer! The parks are at reduced capacity and waits are crazier, but ok, keep jabbering.”

And @GrillMaster02 writes “We’ll see. That is what I was hoping when I decided to keep mine. Biggest issue are wait times are climbing. Disney needs to bring back park hopper and fastpass. I read they have cast members enforcing masks, even for pictures. How silly”.

Again, there has not been any word on if Disney World will keep FastPass eliminated permanently, or even how long FastPass will be suspended. Inside the Magic will continue to update you as we get new information.
