As Walt Disney World provides experience updates to its soon-to-be Guests on its website, it addressed the current status of the FastPass+ system.
According to the Disney World Website,
FastPass+ Selections
As a result of the COVID-19 impact, the FastPass+ service will be suspended for the time being as we plan to use additional queue space to manage capacity at our attractions and maintain physical distancing. We will automatically cancel existing FastPass+ selections and share any future updates on the service at a later date.
This update follows the previous several weeks which saw the would-be Guests lost the FastPasses they made for their upcoming trip, and further solidifies the reality that, like park hopping, FastPass+ will be one of the experiences missing.
Inside the Magic first reported on the suspension of Disney’s FastPass+ option at the end of May, 2020. When Walt Disney World made several announcements regarding its reopening.
FastPass+ and Extra Magic Hours: As a result of the COVID-19 impact, the FastPass+ service will be suspended for the time being as we plan to use additional queue space to manage capacity at our attractions and maintain physical distancing. We will automatically cancel existing FastPass+ selections and share any future updates on the service at a later date. Also, please note that upon reopening, Extra Magic Hours will be temporarily suspended.
Disney World has since continued to eliminate FastPass+ for guests scheduled through the rest of the year.

Several rides such as Space Mountain designate an entire ride track and queue space of equal length to the standby line to FastPass+ service. The limited capacity combined with a wider dispersal of Guests could lower the wait time to a point where FastPasses are not needed. If that is not the case, the My Disney Experience app provides up-to-date wait times allowing you to be efficient and choose the rides with the lowest times. The lack of FastPasses could also provide an incentive for Guests to take in the magic of Disney theme parks some other way.
There is no official word on when FastPass+ will return to Walt Disney World.
