Until this year, adults were banned from wearing Disney character costumes, including long Disney Princess-style dresses, during Halloween at Walt Disney World Resort.

Exceptions were not even made for Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. With the Magic Kingdom Halloween party canceled this year and numerous other changes to the Disney Parks experience, Walt Disney Company officials made the call to allow grown-ups to fully immerse themselves in the magic and wear costumes to Disney World this year.

Today marks the official start of the Halloween season at all Magic Kingdom theme park, with fall and Halloween decorations hung, new Autumn character cavalcades in full swing, and costumes everywhere Guests turn!

Instagram user @momapprovedtravel shared her Beauty and the Beast Mrs. Potts outfit, which perfectly matches the famous “Purple Wall”!

Another Instagrammer @gentlemansdisney showed off his Monsters, Inc. pride with full Monsters University regalia. We love that even his mask is Monsters U themed! Mike and Sulley would be proud.

Instagram user @atomic_april created a stunning Lumiere costume, complete with matching face mask.

According to a Disney Parks Blog post, costumes may be worn by Guests 14 years of age and older from today through October 31 and must adhere to these guidelines:

To bring some Halloween party fun into the park this year, for the first time guests of all ages can wear your funniest, Disney-ist, most creative costumes during Magic Kingdom Park regular operating hours from Sept. 15 to Oct. 31. As an important reminder, costume masks are not permitted for adults; only children younger than 14 years old are permitted to wear costume masks.
