If you are planning a trip to Walt Disney World Resort, here is a quick transportation guide with information on how to get around Disney World when the hotels and theme parks reopen.
Disney’s Magical Express — which is often the first form of transportation that Guests encounter when they arrive in Orlando for their Walt Disney World Resort vacation — will be available for Guests as soon as the Disney Resort hotels begin to reopen, and will continue to be available when the theme parks reopen, as well.
Complimentary airport transportation via Disney’s Magical Express service will be available for Guests arriving and departing from Orlando International Airport.
Many airlines have modified their flight schedules, so please confirm your flight information. If you plan to use Disney’s Magical Express service, contact your room reservation booking agent, or call (407) 939-1936 to make any updates to your flight information on file.
Disney has officially confirmed that when the Disney Resort hotels begin to reopen on June 22 (more information here), they will be offering complimentary bus transportation between each Disney Resort hotel and Disney Springs. Disney World also stated that this complimentary transportation will be available when the theme parks reopen, too.
Before the theme parks reopen, bus transportation will be available between your Disney Resort hotel and Disney Springs area.
When the theme parks reopen, complimentary transportation will also be provided between your Disney Resort hotel and Disney theme parks.
Transportation will operate with physical distancing measures in place, reducing capacity. As a result, you may experience delays.
Minnie Van Service
According to the official Walt Disney World Resort website, “Minnie Van Service will not be available during the initial reopening period.”
Monorails and Ferry Boats
Disney confirmed with Inside the Magic back in May that the Monorails and ferry boats will be available when the theme parks reopen. Disney World Guest Services shared the following update on May 27:
We will begin running our Disney bus transportation on a limited basis for Guests staying in our resort hotels and will open monorail and ferry service when the parks reopen.
Disney did not specifically share information pertaining to the Monorails in the initial announcement of what Guests need to know when the resort hotels reopen. However, the company did say above that “transportation” will be available to and from the theme parks, but did not specifically state that this transportation is only limited to bus service.
Disney confirmed over the phone with Inside the Magic that the Disney Skyliner will be running from July 15 onward, and it will operate during the same hours when EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios are open. Click here for more information.
Disney has also shared the official reopening dates for transportation. You can read our article here.
