The cranes are up! The dazzling gold is being hung into place. The royal makeover of Cinderella Castle is underway at the Magic Kingdom.
Inside the Magic received confirmation of the progress this morning when Walt Disney World guests posted pictures of the castle dressed with construction cranes on social media.

The royal makeover will include dazzling gold embroidery, bolder colors on the gray bick walls and blue spires as well as a dusting of rose pink on the central tower. These Cinderella Castle renovations are being done to get the castle ready for Walt Disney World’s 50th Anniversary celebration in 2021.

But while construction progresses on the exterior of the castle, everything else in and around it will remain open. Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique will remain open to little princesses who have booked their reservations weeks in advance. The iconic character dining venue Cinderella’s Royal Table will also remain open.
The biggest change regards the castle stage show, “Mickey’s Royal Friendship Faire.” It will face some schedule changes due to the construction.

The renovations for this Walt Disney World centerpiece and gateway to Fantasyland are scheduled to be completed before the end of Summer 2020.
