Can a Disney VIP Tour Get You Priority Access to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Attractions?

in Disneyland Resort, Walt Disney World

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is a remarkable Disney Parks experience. Whether or not you consider yourself a Star Wars fan, you can enjoy your day at this Imagineering masterpiece. The land is currently open at Disneyland Resort in California and Walt Disney World Resort in Florida and the two attractions located on each coast continue to be incredibly popular. But is there a way to get priority access, even if there are no FastPasses available for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance and Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run?

A VIP tour is often a bucket-list item for Disney fans. During private VIP tours, a tour guide (you know, those awesome Cast Members dressed in plaid?) will bring you and your party to every attraction and allow you to experience all of your must-dos while hardly having to wait in a single line. This means you get to ride popular attractions like Radiator Springs Racers in Cars Land and Flight of Passage in Pandora with priority access. But now that Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge has opened in Disneyland and Disney’s Hollywood Studios, will VIP tours now give guests access to some of the most popular attractions at Disney Parks right now, Rise of the Resistance and Smugglers Run?

We reached out to Disney to learn more about how they plan to incorporate Galaxy’s Edge attractions into the private VIP tour experiences. Here’s what we learned.

Walt Disney World

At the moment, private VIP tours at Walt Disney World Resort can get you priority access to Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run at Galaxy’s Edge. So you can experience that attraction with as low of a wait as possible during your day with a VIP tour guide. But at this time, VIP tours will not be giving any guests access to Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance.

Additionally, Disney World VIP tours confirmed with Inside the Magic that they cannot give guests any additional access to Oga’s Cantina, although they can look into getting a reservation for you. All other experiences at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios (like building a lightsaber or a droid) can only be booked by guests directly on the My Disney Experience app or the Walt Disney World official website.

There’s no word on if or when Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance will be available for priority access through private VIP tours at Disney World. However, since a private tour guide can get you access to every other attraction on Disney property, we suggest you park hop from Hollywood Studios to experience Flight of Passage at Pandora at Animal Kingdom and Frozen Ever After at Epcot. And we still wish you the best of luck getting a Rise of the Resistance boarding group on your own.

Just like at Disney World, you can book a private VIP tour at Disneyland Resort in California. But after speaking with Disney Cast Members in the VIP tour department, there are some things you should know before booking if your main reason for wanting a VIP tour at Disneyland is to experience Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.

Disneyland officially confirmed that VIP tours don’t have any pull when it comes to getting a boarding group for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. And at this time, VIP tours will not give you priority access to the attraction, either. So even if you book a VIP tour guide, you will have no guarantee of riding Rise of the Resistance, just because you will need to be scanned into Disneyland before park opening and join a boarding group just like everyone else.

At this time, VIP tours can only get you priority access to Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run. For that attraction, your tour guide will take you through a separate entrance for the attraction so you can experience it with very minimal wait. So keep in mind that you can still ride one of the two attractions in Galaxy’s Edge with priority access.

Disneyland couldn’t confirm if or when Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance will be an available attraction for priority access during private VIP tours. We will update Inside the Magic if anything changes in the future.
