Heads up, Disney World guests and upcoming travelers. Walt Disney World has made some more changes to the boarding group process for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. Here’s everything we know so far.
As of today, guests who are able to join the virtual queue and receive a boarding group for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance will be given a boarding group number with a more specific return time. Instead of having two hours to arrive at the attraction from the time their boarding group is called, guests will be told whether they have one OR two hours to arrive at the attraction. Guests’ return times will be given to them in the My Disney Experience app, the official Walt Disney World app that guests have been using to join the virtual queue since the attraction opened on December 5.
The process of joining a boarding group is still the same: you still have to be in the park at park opening in order to join the virtual queue for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. If you don’t know how to join a boarding group and you need more information before your upcoming trip, we suggest reading our guide here (spoiler warning!) or checking out our how-to video below:
Keep in mind that Disney will continue to adjust the boarding group process for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance as needed in order to accommodate guests’ needs. The virtual queue system in place at Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Florida as well as on the west coast in Disneyland in California is far from perfect, but it looks like Disney is doing everything they can in order to get as many guests the opportunity to experience the attraction as possible.
If you have any questions about your boarding group once you receive it, be sure to ask a Cast Member as soon as possible. If you have any questions about the boarding group and virtual queue process in general, you can reach out to Walt Disney World Resort Guest Services.
We will continue to update Inside the Magic as we learn more information about Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance boarding groups.
