At the beginning of January, we sadly reported that the Lizzie McGuire showrunner and executive producer, Terri Minsky, stepped away from the reboot due to creative differences, putting the series on hold.
Minsky was the original Lizzie McGuire creator, but a Disney spokesperson explained “Fans have a sentimental attachment to Lizzie McGuire and high expectations for a new series. After filming two episodes, we concluded that we need to move in a different creative direction and are putting a new lens on the show.”

Fans were extremely upset to hear about this news, especially since the reboot was put on hold, with no clear reports of how it would move forward.
But, we now have some hope as Hilary Duff just posted on her Instagram page a photo of herself posing in front of one of Disney’s iconic Studio buildings, captioning the image with “…”
It looks as if Hilary Duff is on the Disney campus in Los Angeles, appearing to be taking meetings about the show! So it looks like the series will (hopefully) continue production sooner than we thought.
Details On The New Lizzie McGuire Reboot Series
Original cast members such as Hallie Todd, Robert Carradine, and Jake Thomas will be reprising their roles as Jo McGuire (Lizzie’s Mom), Sam McGuire (Lizzie’s Dad), and Matt McGuire (Lizzie’s brother).
And, of course, it wouldn’t be complete without Adam Lamberg, who will reprise his role as David “Gordo” Gordon.

“Gordo was an essential piece of the puzzle to what made the original Lizzie McGuire so authentic and beloved. I couldn’t imagine the series without him,” Hilary Duff said. “I can’t wait for fans to see what he’s up to 15 years later and how he fits into Lizzie’s adult world.”
The reboot Lizzie McGuire series will pick up when Lizzie turns 30 years old. “Just like me and everyone who loved Lizzie and grew up with her, Lizzie has also grown up,” Duff said at the 2019 D23 Expo. “She’s older, she’s wiser, she has a more expensive show budget…she has her dream job…she has her dream guy…she has her dream apartment…and she’s about to celebrate her 30th birthday.”
