It’s Official – “Captain Marvel 2” Is In Development

If you loved Captain Marvel then you’re in luck because a sequel is officially in development!

Marvel Studios has teamed up with the Disney+ Original WandaVision writer, Megan McDonnell to work on Captain Marvel 2.

As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Marvel is currently in search of a female filmmaker to help create the film. Captain Marvel 2 will take place in the present day as opposed to the original film, which took place in the 1990s.

Sources have also stated that Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, who are the original writers and directors of 2019’s Captain Marvel, will unfortunately not be returning but “are in talks to remain in the Marvel Universe and direct a possible Disney+ series.”

Though this isn’t the first we’ve heard of Captain Marvel 2. Kevin Feige had previously spoken about the film during the Phase 4 Marvel Cinematic Universe reveal panel, along with Black Panther 2 and Guardians of the Galaxy 3.

The studio is currently looking at a 2022 release date for Captain Marvel 2.

Captain Marvel starred Brie Larson and Samuel L. Jackson and was Marvel’s first female-focused film. It proved to be a huge success for Marvel with a global box office earnings of over $1.1 billion!

WandaVision

WandaVision is an upcoming American television mini-series that was created specifically for Disney’s streaming service, Disney+. It will be based on the Marvel Comics characters Wanda Maximoff (also known as Scarlet Witch) and Vision.

WandaVision was originally set to be released on Disney+ in 2021, but it was recently moved up to 2020!
