It looks like 2020 will be the best year to visit Disneyland Resort! This new year will bring back returning favorites like Oogie Boogie Bash and will mark the debut of all-new attractions and experiences at the resort. To celebrate the new year, here’s our master post of everything happening at Disneyland Resort in 2020 — it’s going to be a huge year!
Oogie Boogie Bash returns
The returning event that we’re most excited about is Oogie Boogie Bash! In 2019, Oogie Boogie Bash replaced Mickey’s Halloween Party as the separate ticketed Halloween-themed event at Disneyland Resort. The event was held on select nights at Disney California Adventure, and we can report firsthand that it was an absolute hit. The event sold out and offered fantastic character encounters, immersive treat trails, and new and returning experiences that guests loved. We’re so happy it’s returning in 2020.
Annual festivals and Disneyland After Dark events are coming back
Lunar New Year and Food & Wine Festival are returning in 2020, so DCA fans, rejoice! Lunar New Year returns from January 17 through February 9, during which we will celebrate and honor Asian cultures and even see performances from Mulan. The Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival will be serving up delicious goodies and offering unique experiences from February 28 through April 21.
Disneyland After Dark events are also coming back in 2020! We’ll get to participate in some awesome after-hours events, including 80s Nite, Sweethearts Nite, Pixar Nite, and Villains Nite. We’re excited that the events are taking place in both Disneyland and DCA this year, and tickets are already on sale!
Attractions are getting major refurbishments
In addition to some of our favorite events returning in 2020, some fan-favorite Disneyland attractions are getting major refurbishments. We’ve reported so far that Indiana Jones Adventure, Snow White’s Scary Adventures, and the Haunted Mansion are all getting extensive refurbishments in 2020, but we’ll keep you posted when we know more about other attractions getting some facelifts.
A new parade at Disneyland
We learned at D23 Expo that Disneyland is getting a new parade this year, and we couldn’t be more thrilled! The new parade will be at Disneyland Park and it’s appropriately called Magic Happens — and it definitely looks magical! It features an all-new soundtrack and characters we know and love, from Moana and Maui to Elsa and Anna and even Miguel from Coco. The parade makes its debut on February 24, 2020, so mark your calendars.
Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance opens
The attraction we’re most excited to experience in 2020 is, of course, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. This state-of-the-art attraction — which has been hyped up by the East Coast as the most unique experience in the Disney Parks — opens at Disneyland’s Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge on January 17, and that day couldn’t come soon enough. With everything this attraction promises, we’re sure it will add even more to the Star Wars-themed land in Disneyland and it will truly feel complete.
Avengers Campus opens
Finally, Avengers Campus — the new Marvel land in Disney California Adventure — opens in summer 2020. We don’t yet know the official opening date for this new land, but we couldn’t be more excited to find out. When it opens, the land will feature an attraction themed after Spider-Man himself at the Worldwide Engineering Brigade, as well as Pym Test Kitchen and even encounters with our favorite superheroes. We’ll report back when we know more details, but for now, we’re pretty hyped!
