Last week, Mena Massoud opened up about his life after the record-breaking live-action film, Disney’s Aladdinand how he is struggling to land an audition.

“I’m kind of tired of staying quiet about it,” Massoud said in an interview with The Daily Beast. “I want people to know that it’s not always dandelions and roses when you’re doing something like Aladdin. ‘He must have made millions. He must be getting all these offers.’ It’s none of those things. I haven’t had a single audition since Aladdin came out.”

And just days after this news surfaced the Internet, Disney announces a spin-off series from Disney’s Aladdinbut it was not starring Mena Massoud. In fact, it is to star one of the most minor characters in the film.

Prince Anders, who was played by Billy Magnussen, was in a handful of scenes in the live-action Aladdin. He was always shown overdressed as he was royalty from a fictional kingdom and was actually a suitor for Princess Jasmine. The character portrayed a mix of personality traits including silly, goofy, and idiocy, which is actually what made the viewers fall in love even though, you were supposed to root against him.

And now, fans are speaking out on Twitter about this news as, again, it came just days after Mena Massoud opened up about his struggles.

Twitter user @TheGripmonster wrote: “So the dude who plays Aladdin can’t get an audition but the one white dude with one scene in a majority brown cast gets his own movie. Certainly a great look Disney.”

Another Twitter user writes “Just so we’re clear. Mena Massoud, who starred in the blockbuster ALADDIN remake, can’t get an audition anywhere. But Billy Magnussen, who plays the white comic relief character they added to the film for no good reason, gets his own spinoff.”

And some people are upset to see the “minor white character” get the spin-off:
