We know our Inside the Magic readers are big Disney fans, but not all of us live close to the Disney Parks. If you’re not a Disney annual passholder and you’re looking for a Disney fix in your everyday life, then you should definitely check out Disney on Ice!

What is Disney On Ice?

Disney On Ice is a magical, entertaining way to experience Disney without going to a Disney Park. Your favorite Disney characters take to the rink and skate along with impeccable choreography to the most beloved Disney music. It may not be a show at a Disney theme park, but it sure is just as magical and breathtaking.

There are a few versions of Disney On Ice. Each offers Disney magic with a different theme and message. Here’s a little about each Disney On Ice show that is currently touring (or will tour), courtesy of the official website.

Dream Big

Believing is just the beginning for your favorite Disney heroes at Disney On Ice presents Dream Big! Miguel aspires to be a musician and journeys through the Land of the Dead to unlock his family’s history. Moana and Maui bravely restore the stolen heart of Te Fiti. Worlds of Enchantment

Mickey’s Search Party

Join Mickey Mouse and his friends at Disney On Ice presents Mickey’s Search Party, a brand-new adventure filled with world-class skating, high-flying acrobatics, and unexpected stunts! Help them follow Captain Hook’s treasure map and look for clues in the search for Tinker Bell in immersive, fantastic worlds. Explore the colorful spirit realm of Coco in Miguel’s Disney On Ice debut, sail away with Moana as she bravely saves her island, see Belle in the sky above you as the enchanted chandelier comes to life, and sing-along with Elsa in the icy world of Frozen. Road Trip Adventures

Hit the road with Mickey Mouse and his pals for a high-octane ride in Disney On Ice presents Road Trip Adventures. Exciting twists and turns await as Mickey, Minnie, Goofy—and you—embark on a wild ride to your favorite Disney destinations. Travel with Moana to the sun-soaked Motunui, set off on a safari to the Pride Lands with Simba. Discover a whole new world as you’re swept up in Aladdin’s princely parade. Play at a larger-than-life carnival with Woody and Forky. Join us for a fun-filled getaway jam-packed with unexpected hijinks and up-close character interactions — right in your hometown!

Disney On Ice with kids

Disney On Ice is enjoyed by Disney fans of all ages, and you don’t have to have kids in order to go — just like you don’t have to have kids in order to enjoy the Disney Parks. But a lot of families want to know a few things first before they take their kids to Disney On Ice: What’s the best age for kids to see the show? Are tickets expensive? Can my kids dress up? How long is the show?

When it comes to bringing your kids to Disney On Ice, you can rest assured that they will have a great time. Your kids are more than welcome to dress up and get all decked out in their Disney best. This makes seeing the show even more fun, just like dressing up really gets your kids in the Mickey Mouse spirit when visiting the Disney Parks!

Discounts are often available, and ticket prices can vary depending on where your seats are. You should also book your tickets earlier to get the best seats, as the seats with the best views tend to sell out, and if you have kids who are really big Disney fans, they may want to sit closer to the action.

Also keep in mind that your kids might get cold in the arena, so be sure to dress in layers or pack an extra sweater for each person in your party so that you stay warm while the show is going on.

And finally, Disney On Ice shows can last anywhere from one to two hours, so keep this in mind if your kids are impatient or don’t like sitting during shows for long periods of time.
