We always like to share our favorite ways to beat the post-Disney blues when we’re in between vacations, but many of our tips apply to adults who love Disney. Of course, your kids may love watching Disney movies every chance they get, but there are plenty of other ways to get their Disney fix as they ask you to take them back to the theme parks every chance they get. One of those ways is books! Like Disney, we love encouraging a love of reading, so we’re so excited to share some of our favorite chapter books your kids will love.
We’re starting off this list with a book that will give your kids a little history lesson. It’s a shorter read, so it’s perfect for younger kids who are just starting out with chapter books. It tells the story of Walt Disney and his brother, Roy, and shares how they “built the world’s most popular theme parks and brought to life some of the best-known cartoon characters in family entertainment.” As adults, we can appreciate the hard work, craftsmanship, and attention to detail of the Disney Parks, so we love that this book shares the effort and determination that the Disney brother had. It can inspire any young reader to use their creativity and drive to bring something great to the world, just as the Disney brothers did.
Have your kids ever wondered what it would be like to visit Never Land with Peter Pan, Tinker Bell, and all of the Disney fairies? The “Disney: The Never Girls” book series is the perfect read for your little fairies. The books follow a group of girls who are magically transported to Never Land with Tinker Bell and all of her fairy friends. If your kids love the “Tinker Bell” animated films or Peter Pan’s Flight attraction at the Disney Parks, then they will love these books. These are recommended for children ages 6-10, but we think all ages can enjoy a little bit of pixie dust.
We absolutely love any story that completely immerses us in a whole new world, but these books will take you to a world that’s probably familiar to you: the Disney Parks! We’ve recommended these books before, but we couldn’t have a post about Disney kids chapter books without mentioning the “Kingdom Keepers” series. If your kids are ever begging you to stay at the Disney Parks late at night after close, or they are full of imagination and wonder whenever they meet a new character, then these books are sure to give them that same sense of adventure. The stories follow middle-school-aged children as they traverse the Disney Parks after dark and battle Disney Villains who come to life when the park closes. How cool is that?
Disney is currently developing a show series based on the “Villains” books for the new Disney+ streaming service, so what better time for your kids to read them? This series follows the lives and backstories of Disney Villains, like Ursula from “The Little Mermaid” and the Evil Queen from “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs,” to share how their evil personalities came to be. We love learning more about the Disney characters we see in films and in the theme parks, and these books are terrific for your kid who is always wanting more magic after every vacation.
