Boats drift through jungle rivers, spinning taxis race through cartoon cities, and elevated monorails glide above Tomorrowland. Behind the scenes, teams constantly monitor these rides to ensure they remain safe, functional, and immersive.
Still, when a beloved attraction temporarily disappears from the lineup, fans notice immediately.
Rumblings Begin as Guests Notice Multiple Disneyland Experiences Going Quiet
In recent weeks, Disneyland visitors began noticing something unusual when planning their trips.
Park calendars showed a growing number of attractions listed as temporarily unavailable. What first appeared to be routine maintenance quickly started to look like something larger as more rides joined the refurbishment list.
For seasoned Disneyland fans, refurbishment schedules are nothing new. Attractions regularly close for maintenance throughout the year, especially during slower seasons when attendance is slightly lower.
However, when several attractions across both Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure appear on the schedule at once, it can create ripple effects throughout the entire resort.
Longer wait times. Crowded walkways. Guests adjusting plans on the fly.
And that’s exactly what some visitors are preparing for this spring.
Disneyland Has Long Used Early-Year Months to Refresh Attractions
Historically, Disneyland’s refurbishment calendar becomes more active during the first few months of the year. January through March is often when major maintenance projects take place, particularly before the busy spring break and summer travel seasons begin.
Water rides, in particular, frequently close during winter months due to cooler temperatures. Attractions with complex ride systems or aging infrastructure may also receive updates during this time.
For many Disney fans, these refurbishments are seen as a necessary tradeoff. A ride may temporarily close, but the result is often smoother operations and refreshed experiences once it returns.
Still, when multiple attractions close at the same time, it can reshape how guests experience the parks.
A Surprising List of Attractions Will Be Closed Throughout March
As Disneyland Resort moves deeper into March, several attractions across both parks will be unavailable for varying periods of time.
At Disneyland Park, the iconic Jungle Cruise closed on February 17 for structural repairs and is expected to remain closed into April. The classic boat ride—famous for its corny skippers and jungle-themed humor—will be undergoing maintenance with no confirmed reopening date yet announced.
Another temporary closure affects Pirate’s Lair on Tom Sawyer Island, which will be unavailable from March 2 through March 5. Guests will still be able to visit once the attraction reopens on March 6.
Two additional attractions will close later in the month. The Disneyland Monorail, which connects Tomorrowland and Downtown Disney, is scheduled to shut down beginning March 30. Disney has not yet provided a reopening timeline.
Also closing on March 30 is Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin in Mickey’s Toontown. The spinning dark ride, which recreates scenes from the animated film, will close for refurbishment with no reopening date currently announced.
Over at Disney California Adventure, several attractions are also affected.
The popular rapids attraction Grizzly River Run has been closed since January 5 for seasonal refurbishment and is currently scheduled to remain unavailable until April 10.
Meanwhile, Jumpin’ Jellyfish, a family-friendly parachute-style ride, closed on February 23 but is expected to reopen soon on March 6.
Another attraction, Golden Zephyr, will close again from March 9 through March 17.
In total, seven attractions across the two parks will experience closures at some point during March.

On platforms like X (formerly Twitter) and Reddit, Disneyland fans have been comparing notes and sharing strategies for navigating the park during refurbishment season. Some guests expressed disappointment about missing specific attractions during planned trips, while others pointed out that maintenance is essential to keeping rides safe and operational.
A few longtime visitors even noted that early-year refurbishments are part of the normal Disneyland cycle, encouraging guests to check refurbishment calendars before traveling.
Still, when beloved experiences like Jungle Cruise or the Disneyland Monorail are unavailable, it can feel like a noticeable gap in the park’s lineup.

While several attractions will be unavailable temporarily, many of Disneyland’s most iconic experiences—from Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge to Radiator Springs Racers—remain open and operating.
