Some guests recently had a not-so-magical experience at their Disney World hotel.
TikTok user @janaelaird4 shared a video from Disney’s Pop Century Resort – one of Disney’s Value Resorts – in which she revealed that she and her companions returned to their hotel room, only to allegedly discover cockroaches.
“We stayed at Pop Century Sports Resort in Orlando Florida and found roaches crawling across the bed,” she wrote in the caption of the video, which shows her party shaking out their luggage by the side of a Pop Century pool at nighttime.
@janaelaird4 We stayed at Pop Century Sports Resort in Orlando Florida and found roaches crawling across the bed. They initially said they couldn’t give me a refund me and stated that they can only move me to another room. Eventually they gave me the refund and we found another hotel. All this happened around 11pm. #disney #disneyworld #popcenturyresort #roach #disgusting @Disney @Disney Parks @DISNEY WORLD🐭🥰
While Disney cast members initially refused to refund the group, they later relented.
“They initially said they couldn’t give me a refund me and stated that they can only move me to another room,” she wrote. “Eventually they gave me the refund and we found another hotel. All this happened around 11pm.”
In the video itself, she added, “I’m ready to go, we’re going to stay at the airport.”

Other TikTok users pointed out that cockroaches – or palmetto bugs, as they’re often called in the South – are everywhere in Florida.
“The doors into the rooms are on the outside, it’s Florida…” wrote one user. “There’s going to be bugs.”
Similar Bug Incidents in Disney Hotels
This isn’t the first time creepy crawlies have interrupted a Disney vacation.
In the comments of the same video, one user wrote, “Stayed there last year. We had ants invade after 1 day and fruit flies everywhere.”
Earlier this year, we found multiple dead bugs stuck to the ceiling of a hotel room, also at Disney’s Pop Century Resort. Bed bugs have also allegedly sparked concern at several Disney properties in the past, including Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge and Disneyland Hotel at Disneyland Resort.
In fact, in 2022, Disney paid out $100,000 to a guest who suffered bedbug bites while previously staying at the Disneyland Hotel. Guests have even spotted dogs trained to sniff out bed bugs at the Anaheim hotel – a tactic that has also been used by Disneyland Paris, which put out an ad in 2024 for a Bedbug Detector Dog Master to conduct “regular inspection of rooms, common areas, luggage storage in hotels or any other premises where the presence of bedbugs could be confirmed.”
More recently, Disney Cruise Line passengers also complained en masse on Reddit about a string of bed bug incidents on the Disney Magic in particular.
