On Monday, hundreds of Walt Disney World Resort guests were stranded on Frozen Ever After when the EPCOT ride suddenly closed. One Central Florida Disney Park guest shared their experience evacuating the Norway World Showcase Pavilion attraction.

Frozen Ever After replaced Maelstrom, which the Norway Pavilion had housed since 1988. Wait times skyrocketed, taking the once walk-on attraction to regularly 90+ minute standby lines. Guests with Lightning Lane Multi Pass often have to book the Frozen (2013) ride hours in advance to ensure they can experience it.

On this slow-moving boat ride, Disney Park guests join Princess Anna, Queen Elsa, Olaf, Sven, Kristoff, and more on an adventure through the world of Frozen. It begins as Grand Pabbie recounts the story of the Walt Disney Animation Studios film, and guests journey to Elsa’s ice palace. Guests don’t return to EPCOT without running into Marshmallow, the terrifying snow monster!

Unfortunately, hundreds of recent Disney Park guests didn’t get the full Frozen Ever After experience. Redditor u/enxoran shared this photo of guests stuck on Frozen Ever After with the lights on, waiting for Disney cast members to evacuate them from the broken ride:

I do believe that I’m about to get evacuated off of Frozen ever after.

The EPCOT guests barely made it into Elsa’s palace when the boat ride suddenly stopped. Disney cast members reportedly moved their boat backward to evacuate them safely onto an emergency unloading platform.

“First time I’ve been evacuated in the 10 different times I’ve been to Disney World in the past 24 years,” the Disney Park guest wrote.

Luckily, everyone evacuated Frozen Ever After safely. What caused the ride downtime is unclear, but it has since reopened and was operating normally at the time of this article’s publication.

Alternate Frozen Ever After attractions operate in the World of Frozen at Hong Kong Disneyland and in Fantasy Springs at Tokyo DisneySea. Another version is scheduled to open at Disneyland Paris Resort’s Disney Adventure World in 2026.
