A former teacher from Douglas Anderson School of the Arts, Chris Allen-Black, was recently found guilty of a disturbing incident that took place at a resort on Disney property in 2024. While he won’t face prison time, the consequences of his actions will severely impact his future career.

No Prison for Chris Allen-Black
In a case that garnered significant attention, Allen-Black was convicted on June 25 for exposing himself in front of victims at a resort. The arrest report detailed that witnesses saw him standing naked and engaging in inappropriate behavior in front of a hotel window that overlooked a pool area on Disney property.
This behavior led to his arrest by Orange County deputies on February 24, 2024, though it wasn’t until April 11 that he was removed from his teaching position at Douglas Anderson School of the Arts.

As part of his sentence, Allen-Black has been ordered to serve 12 months of probation, complete 100 hours of community service, and forfeit his teaching license. He will also face a ban from Disney properties for the duration of his probation period.
The ruling comes after a series of delays in his removal from the classroom, during which Duval County Public Schools Superintendent had publicly apologized for not taking action sooner.

A Troubling Incident
This case is part of a troubling pattern for the school district, which has faced several sexual misconduct allegations involving former staff members at Douglas Anderson. The incidents have led to significant changes in policies regarding teacher-student interactions and have spurred the district to review how such cases are handled moving forward.
Allen-Black’s conviction, along with other misconduct allegations at the school, has further prompted calls for stronger oversight and more stringent measures to prevent inappropriate behavior within educational settings. Despite the legal outcome, the case underscores the ongoing challenges within the district to ensure the safety and well-being of students.
