It has been well over a year since the trailer for the upcoming first-person action-adventure video game “Jurassic Park: Survival” premiered during the 2023 Game Awards.
Set 24 hours after the events of Steven Spielberg’s blockbuster classic, Jurassic Park (1993), the game follows Dr. Maya Joshi, an InGen scientist who failed to evacuate Isla Nublar with her co-workers, as she faces the island’s deadly prehistoric predators in a battle for survival.

Last June, Universal and Saber shared with IGN an internal Q&A conducted with Universal Products & Experiences executive producer John Melchior and Saber Interactive creative director Oliver Hollis-Leick, which included several titbits about “Jurassic Park: Survival”.
Not only did this whet our appetites even further, it was reassuring to hear that the game was still in active development. Since then, however, things have gone quiet. But the same can be said about a number of high-profile projects in development at Saber Interactive.
Video games are notorious for being delayed and/or canceled, and many fans fear that “Survival” has already been thrown on the scrapheap, following 2001’s open-world game also titled “Jurassic Park: Survival” and 2015’s similarly titled “Jurassic World: Survivor”.
Are Jurassic games with either “survivor” or “survival” in the titles simply cursed?

In March 2024, news that Saber had split from its parent company Embracer Group and was sold to Beacon Interactive for US$247 million, fueled these fears. While the IGN exclusive came months after, that was now nine months ago, during which time we’ve had no news.
Fortunately, the future of “Jurassic Park: Survival” has now been confirmed by Saber Interactive CCO Tim Willits.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Willits shared a brief statement about the “numerous games across many different genres” Saber is currently working on, and promised that they’ll reveal more about those projects when they “have something cool to share”:
“Saber Interactive is one of the largest independent developers in the world. We are working on numerous games across many different genres. Everything that we have talked about is still in development. We will share information on upcoming games when we have something cool to share.”
Other upcoming projects from Saber are the highly anticipated “Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic” remake, “John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando”, “Avatar: The Last Airbender”, and another dinosaur-centric actioner, “Turok: Origins”.

None of the above projects have a release date, including “Jurassic Park: Survival”.
“Return to Isla Nublar the day after the events of the beloved 1993 Jurassic Park film in an original adventure 65 million years in the making,” the synopsis reads. “Survive thrilling first-person action as InGen scientist Dr. Maya Joshi, who was unable to evacuate Isla Nublar, in this single-player action-adventure game and discover a never-before-told story.
“Through thrilling encounters, experience the wonder and danger of dinosaurs, each with their own distinct and adaptive behaviors brought to life by John Hammond’s vision.”
