While all eyes are on the upcoming sequel, Jurassic World Rebirth, one of four Jurassic sequels in development, fans will soon be able to return to the original Jurassic Park.
“I wanted to show them something that wasn’t an illusion,” John Hammond (Richard Attenborough) tells Ellie Sattler (Laura Dern) in Jurassic Park (1993), referring to the genetically engineered dinosaurs that inhabit his remote Costa Rican theme park. “Something that was real,” he adds, “something they could see and touch.”
Unfortunately, for the viewer, despite their jaw-dropping realism, those dinosaurs were created using practical and digital effects. In other words, it really is all one big illusion.

Fortunately, while it’s unlikely we’ll ever see real dinosaurs, there are plenty of real-life Jurassic locations that immerse us into the world established in the film series, from Universal Studios’ theme park attractions like Jurassic Park: The Ride to moving experiences like Jurassic World: The Exhibition, all of which have been spared no expense.
The idea behind these experiences is to re-create the magic of the film, usually in the form of the dinosaurs and certain sequences depicted on-screen. But what about the original Jurassic Park island? While the Universal Studios attractions are found in Jurassic-themed areas, it still exactly feel like you’re walking through those enormous gates from the film.

However, soon, fans will be able to explore Isla Nublar–but not as John Hammond intended.
Set just 24 hours after the events of the 1993 film, the upcoming first-person action-adventure video game “Jurassic Park: Survival” puts players on the remote Costa Rican island in the aftermath of the dinosaur breakout, which saw prehistoric apex predators like Tyrannosaurus Rex and Velociraptors escape their electrified enclosures.
You’ll play as InGen scientist Dr. Maya Joshi, who was unable to evacuate the island for reasons unknown, so you’ll need to find smart and resourceful ways to survive the island’s deadly inhabitants. And speaking of the island, there’s a “fully realized Isla Nublar” on offer.

Whether or not this will be completely open-world remains to be seen, but the developers have promised iconic locations from the film, such as the Visitor Center and the park gates, as well as never-before-seen areas such as hotels and bunkers.
“Jurassic Park: Survival” will be released on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and other popular gaming platforms such as Steam. There’s no release date for the game.
