If there’s one thing any Disney World guest has to come to terms with, it’s that they will be waiting no matter what. It’s still unusual when so-called “walk-on” attractions suddenly attract a massive crowd.
The Walt Disney World Resort is home to several iconic Disney park attractions like Space Mountain, the Haunted Mansion, and Peter Pan’s Flight, just to name a few. But there are also certain rides with a more niche audience that typically don’t have too long of a wait time. These rides might not have the biggest and brightest effects or machinery, but they still draw a very specific crowd.

Out of all the attractions at the EPCOT center, one great example is Living with the Land, as the fascinating trip through the Land pavilion gardens on a scenic boat ride has become something of a cult favorite. So why the sudden interest and overflow of guests (seen below) in such a low-stimulation attraction?
Living With the Land Backed Up at Disney World
The image shared by u/burnsniper on r/DisneyWorld shows an uncharacteristically long wait time of 35 minutes with a queue line that stretches beyond the Sunshine Seasons dining area in the pavilion’s center. Many fans are perplexed by the sudden popularity in the comments. Unless hungry vegans suddenly storm the boats, those familiar with the attraction know that it hardly presents anything that would warrant such a large number, but there might be a method to the madness.

For those unfamiliar with the ride, Living with the Land is an indoor boat ride attraction that takes guests through the journey of plant life through various biomes before ultimately winding up in gardens and on tables. It’s not exactly Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, but it’s an EPCOT staple that hundreds of guests enjoy.
A recent change in the ride’s overlay might be responsible for the sudden influx of guests. As EPCOT celebrates its International Flower and Garden Festival, so too is that reflected in the attraction’s plant life.
EPCOT All in Bloom
As pointed out by u/TigreMalabarista in the comments, the botanical activity has naturally increased given the time of year and the ongoing festival (along with spring training for the MLB teams), meaning more visitors will want to pop in and see what’s growing.
The user shares in her comment,
“Living with the Land was busier for us to visit when it was the Flower festival. More veggies and flowers are in bloom around March-April (saying as I went first of February this year, first time not during spring training), so folks may enjoy seeing it more right now…”
EPCOT’s International Flower and Garden Festival allows Disney to truly flex its green thumb, and guests are rarely disappointed. That said, there is a lot to see as the greenhouses and gardens of Living with the Land come into full bloom, making them quite the spectacle of the festival.

As the festivities only began on February 28 this week, a sudden spike in crowds is to be expected. Fortunately, potential guests might not have to wait too long for things to even out. The festival runs until May 27, 2024, and fans can definitely make time to stop and smell the roses.
