Disney is making progress with Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, the new Magic Kingdom attraction, including rejecting multiple ride vehicles after extensive texting.

On January 23, 2023, and May 31, 2023, both Splash Mountain attractions on each coast permanently closed their doors. Subsequently, construction walls swiftly appeared as Disney began the transformation of the beloved laughing place into the enchanting bayou. While Splash Mountain had long been a cherished attraction among park guests, Disney encountered resistance from some fans when the decision to close the ride was announced.
Recently, we were able to see what would be our first glimpse of Tiana thanks to Disney showcasing the animatronic on social media. With that, we also found out that the fall 2024 opening date that was previously announced would be moving up to summer 2024, which is the perfect timing to reopen Disney’s most popular water flume ride during the hottest time of year.

Theme park content creators TPMvids (@TPMvideos) shared photos of logs from the ride that have red rejected tags on them. For a while now, we have seen the ride testing, with logs going down the mountain on repeat. Now, we know that those logs that were testing were not the real logs that will be used. Disney did ensure that they cut off the Br’er Rabbit statue that once topped the ride vehicle during testing, to not further the Splash Mountain conversation that has been very present since the ride shut down.
It appears the logs that have been used for testing Tiana’s Bayou Adventure at Magic Kingdom are “rejected” logs. They do look worn and dirty but are missing the Bre’r Rabbit ornament in the front.

What this may mean is that the ride vehicles that Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will have likely been receiving some cosmetic updates to change their aesthetics from the classic Splash Mountain logs, which would make sense as to why only the logs that Disney planned on removing due to their wear and tear would be the “test dummies”.
While Disney has not said, the ride vehicles would change, with the entirety of the ride cosmetically changing and getting an upgrade, re-doing the look of these logs would make sense to have the ride vehicles look cohesive with the rest of the ride.
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure takes a new, interesting turn, as it is more unique than other Disney rides based on the princesses, or any IP for that matter. Usually, Disney uses their dark rides to re-tell the story that we know and love from the movie the ride is based on. For example, Frozen Ever After at EPCOT goes over the story of Frozen. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, however, takes place after Princess and the Frog ends.

At a young age, Tiana’s love for cooking ignited, fueled by her father James’s belief in the power of good food to unite people. Now, at Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, guests witness the evolution of her dream, from the success of Tiana’s Palace to her latest venture, Tiana’s Foods, a cooperative where locals and her community come together.
Amidst the vibrant Mardi Gras festivities, a mix-up in party preparations leads Tiana to enlist our help at Tiana’s Foods, adorned with local artwork and bustling with party preparations. Continuing her mission of inclusivity and empowerment, Tiana teaches gardening and cooking to children and supports women entrepreneurs, all while transforming an old salt mine into a thriving space where new products, like original hot sauces, are born.
With the steadfast support of her mother Eudora, her beloved Naveen, and dedicated cooperative members, Tiana breathes new life into the salt mine and surrounding land, cultivating a bounty of fresh ingredients for her culinary creations. The transformation of the space into a dynamic farm-to-table operation symbolizes Tiana’s unwavering commitment to her roots and her relentless pursuit of culinary excellence.

At the heart of Tiana’s Foods lies a spirit of innovation, where traditional flavors mingle with contemporary flair to produce a diverse array of products, including an exclusive line of original hot sauces. Through her entrepreneurial endeavors, Tiana not only brings people together but also inspires others to embrace their passions and strive for greatness.
With this new story will also come new characters and critters in the bayou, as well as new music being produced for the ride exclusively.
More construction walls have recently come down, revealing bayou-style trees in the water, and at the moment, Golden Oak Outpost is serving Tiana’s famous beignets for a limited time.
Are you excited to ride on Tiana’s Bayou Adventure this summer?
