Carrie Fisher is one of the most beloved actresses in Hollywood history. The daughter of Debbie Reynolds, Carrie Fisher has starred in such films as When Harry Met Sally… (1989), Shampoo (1975), Hannah and Her Sisters (1986), and guest-starring in  30 Rock (2007) and the British show Catastrophe (2017).

She also worked as a writer, creating the one-woman show Wishful Drinking (2006), scribing books like Postcards From the Edge (1987) and  The Princess Diarist (2016), and doctoring multiple scripts, including Hook (1991), the Sister Act (1992), Anastasia (1997), and The Wedding Singer (1998).

However, Fisher is most well-known for playing Princess Leia in George Lucas’ Star Wars franchise, usually alongside Mark Hamill and Harrison Ford. Whether she was helping escape an Imperial Star Destroyer, going undercover in Jabba the Hutt’s palace, or leading the rebellion against the First Order, Carrie Fisher’s Princess Leia showed strength and gumption, often serving as the most practical member of the team.

She was also commended for being an advocate for mental health, addiction, AIDS research, and many other causes.

Fisher’s most recent honor is a posthumous star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The honor was accepted by her daughter, Billie Lourd, who accepted the award in true Star Wars fashion. Literally.

Lourd also spoke at the ceremony, celebrating Fisher and thanking her “Space Uncle” Mark Hamill for attending. Lourd did not invite her mother’s brothers and sisters, stating, “They know why.”

Billie Lourd has continued the family lineage of talented actresses, Lourd has starred in Scream Queens (2015-2016), American Horror Story (2017-present), and alongside her mother as Lieutenant Connix in the Star Wars sequel trilogy (2015-2019).
