Credit: DisneyHalle Bailey must feel like she’s in a whole new world because she is in love with the latest The Little Mermaid (2023) doll based on her version of Ariel. And we couldn’t agree more!
Disney fans can’t contain their excitement for the upcoming The Little Mermaid, a live-action remake of the 1989 animated classic. Set to release on May 26, the new film features a star-studded cast, including Melissa McCarthy as Ursula the Sea Witch, Javier Bardem as King Triton, Jonah Hauer-King as Prince Eric, Awkwafina as Scuttle, and Daveed Diggs as Sebastian.
The music has also been updated with original composer Alan Menken and Encanto (2021) songwriter Lin-Manuel Miranda.
However, the most attention has been given to Ariel herself, Halle Bailey. Bailey has proven time and again that she’s basically a real-life Disney Princess with her courage and boundless positivity. And that delight and childlike wonder continued when she revealed Mattel’s new The Little Mermaid doll based on her.

In a reel on her Instagram, Halle Bailey revealed the doll based on her version of Ariel and was blown away, commenting underneath the video, “the little girl in me is pinching herself right now… I have my own Little Mermaid Ariel doll!!! I can’t believe how much she captures my version of this iconic character. brb, gonna cry right now…”
During the reel, you could genuinely see those tears building up. Bailey joyfully said, “She looks just like me! She even has my mole,” before ending the video with, “I don’t know what I’m going to do with this, but I’m going to steal it.”

She wasn’t the only person excited, with her sister Chloe Bailey saying, “IM BUYING 100 OF THEM!!!” Fellow future Disney princess Rachel Zegler said, “Baby girl! That’s what dreams are made of.”
Other fans were quick to share their enthusiasm as well, with one saying, “Keep y’all kids out the store bc I’m finna push them out the way to get one,” and another commenting, “I’m supposed to pay a bill today… This is more important!”

We can see why Halle Bailey was gushing over the doll. It looks remarkably like her version of Ariel, with curly red hair, a sweet smile, and a fantastic turquoise tail that matches her top.
While the Ariel doll won’t be available for purchase until April 26, it can be pre-ordered on Amazon for $14.99.
