Amid the polemic that has surrounded the Walt Disney Company over the last months, from the “Don’t Say Gay Bill,” to political protests and even direct attacks from the Florida government, Walt Disney decided to take a massive step that Guests consider to be in the right direction, though long overdue.
Recently, the Walt Disney Company decided to rename its iconic “Rainbow Collection,” shifting its focus to be more openly supportive of the LGBTQIA+ community. The new collection was officially renamed The Walt Disney Company Pride Collection.
As shared by Deanne Revel (@deannerevel) on Twitter, this decision is a step in the right direction by the Walt Disney Company, calling the merchandise precisely what it is, instead of vague rainbows in June, Pride Month.

Deanne added that the new packaging will read Disney Pride Collection, Pixar Pride Collection, Star Wars Pride Collection, or Marvel Pride Collection, depending on the product Guests are buying IP.

And while many viewers were excited to read this news, some had quite opposite reactions. Aut (@AutL78), for example, commented that it is a step from the company, but one that came too late, as they will be buying from small LGBTQIA+ owned businesses instead.

Currently, the pride collection is still not available on the shopDisney.com website, but there are reports of Guests finding a few products with the new Pride Collection packaging throughout Disneyland Resort. Surely more products will be announced and become available for Guests to show their Pride and support for the LGBTQIA+ community.
