With new and upcoming rides, attractions, and additions, Guests have so much to look forward to at the Walt Disney World Resort in 2022. From Expedition Everest’s biggest refurbishment to Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind at EPCOT and the possible completion of TRON Lightcycle/Run at the Magic Kingdom, there is a lot to be excited about when visiting Disney World or all of the Disney parks this year.

One of the most highly-anticipated and talked about upcoming projects at Walt Disney World Resort isn’t a ride at all, but a luxurious and expensive hotel experience that Disney is offering Guests starting this March. Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser is an ambitious and super-themed Star Wars experience that Guests can become fully immersed in. Disney is boasting an experience like no other and one that could change the landscape of themed hotels in the future.

However, there is a lot of controversy surrounding this hotel as well, with many Guests not being happy with the first look Disney gave them, with the reception to the video so bad that Disney removed the video entirely. Because of this, many Guests who had booked the hotel full through the next couple of months canceled their stays, opting to see how the hotel actually looks and operates before they shell out the $5,000 needed for a two-night, three-day stay.

We recently noticed that because of all of the cancelations, that the Star Wars-themed hotel is currently open for booking on May the 4th, a Star Wars-themed holiday. May the 4 usually sees Disney World and Disneyland celebrate with exclusive merchandise, shows, and other little celebrations to help honor one of the biggest franchises in the entire world. While this is typically a big deal for fans of Star Wars, the Galactic Starcruiser is empty on these dates.

We recently covered how the Galactic Starcruiser lost more than 50% of its reservations for April and May due to people either not being able to go or canceling due to the bad reception of the “first look” video that Disney posted. Now, when looking on the website, May, July and August are wide open, leaving us and many wondering how well the first year of this Star Wars hotel will go over.

The Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser has been a wild and controversial topic in the past few months just like Disney Genie, another new addition to the Guest experience within the Parks. This new service allows most of your planning to be done automatically, with the free Disney Genie app making your itinerary for the day. The controversy comes with Genie+ as well as Lightning Lane, two paid services that significantly can alter your experience at the Parks and rides.

We’ve covered Guests’ thoughts and experiences on this new service, with a lot of them being left confused and frustrated by it. Many claim that paying up to $20 to skip the line in one ride isn’t worth it and is an insane amount of money to pay. Others even wonder if Disney Genie shows fake wait times in order to get more people to buy it. For many Guests, however, the service works and is a great replacement to the previous FastPass+ system Disney World used to have.
