Eternals is finally set to premiere on November 5, 2021 (earlier in certain areas), and the box office is expected to be booming with fans rushing to see the latest film in Phase Four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

In typical Marvel fashion, ticket sales for the upcoming film are already past the million dollar mark. Eternals has already grossed over $2.6 million within the first 24 hours of advanced ticket sales.

Comparatively, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings brought in $1.4 million and Black Widow brought in $2 million. Black Widow had a rocky release but was still able to obtain an $80 million opening weekend. Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings shattered records with $75.6 million for the biggest Labor Day weekend opening of all time.

The Eternals have been a beloved part of Marvel Comics for years, and fans were very excited to see that the characters were going to be getting their own film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. According to Marvel, this film is star-studded and sure to leave viewers wanting more (with possibly a nice Easter egg in a post-credit scene?).

Below is the film’s official description:

Marvel Studios’ The Eternals features an exciting new team of Super Heroes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, ancient aliens who have been living on Earth in secret for thousands of years. Following the events of Avengers: Endgame, an unexpected tragedy forces them out of the shadows to reunite against mankind’s most ancient enemy, The Deviants. The outstanding ensemble cast include Richard Madden as the all-powerful Ikaris, Gemma Chan as humankind-loving Sersi, Kumail Nanjiani as the cosmic-powered Kingo, Lauren Ridloff as the super-fast Makkari, Brian Tyree Henry as the intelligent inventor Phastos, Salma Hayek as the wise and spiritual leader Ajak, Lia McHugh as the eternally young, old-soul Sprite, Don Lee as the powerful Gilgamesh, Barry Keoghan as the aloof loner Druig, and Angelina Jolie as the fierce warrior Thena. Kit Harrington was cast as Dane Whitman.

Fans are going to have to eagerly wait a few more weeks until the film hits the big screen. But right now, it’s clear that Marvel has another heavy hitter about to be added to their list of box office record-breakers.
