EPCOT’s World Showcase brings the cultures of various countries to Disney World Resort Guests. Whether it’s Mexico to Canada or Canada to Mexico, Guests can enjoy food, drink, and entertainment from around the globe — not to mention witness the brand-new spectacular, Harmonious.
With so much going on, there are bound to be Pavilion updates throughout the year. As it happens Walt Disney World Resort has filed a new construction permit for Morocco.

EPCOT, along with the Magic Kingdom, Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and Disney’s Hollywood Studios, is currently celebrating the Walt Disney World Resort’s 50th anniversary — The World’s Most Magical Celebration. With shows like Disney Enchantment around Cinderella Castle, new attractions like Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, and the launch of Disney Genie, Genie+, and the all-new Lightning Lane attraction entrances, the Central Florida theme park is experiencing a lot of change.
As well as the new additions at the Disney Resort, not all experiences are back to their pre-pandemic status. Things like Character/Themed Dining and meet and greets are part of Disney World’s phased reopening plans — for complete updates on dining at the Walt Disney World Resort, then head here for the official information. If you have a Disney vacation booked then it is worth checking ahead of your arrival in Orlando.

One location that still remains closed is Restaurant Marrakesh at the Morocco Pavilion in EPCOT. The Unique/Themed Dining experience specializes in Mediterranean and Moroccan cuisine and can be found in Morocco nestled between the Japan and France Pavilions. Back in July, the restaurant reopened its indoor seating for Guest use but the actual restaurant food service remained unavailable.
According to a new permit filed by the Walt Disney World Resort, the Morocco Pavillion will be receiving some construction in the near future. Disney’s in-house construction company — Buena Vista Construction Company — will be used to “provide labor, material, and/or electrical for construction”. It isn’t clear what Disney is aiming to do at the Morocco Pavilion, it could be anything from minor adjustments to a full overhaul.

What is interesting about Restaurant Marrakesh is that at the end of last year, the Morocco Pavilion became solely owned by Disney following a debt filing against the company, Marrakesh Moroccon Restaurant, LLC. running the EPCOT location. This permit could hint that Walt Disney World may be welcoming the table service restaurant back sometime soon, and possibly in a different way.
